Why we like this yurt camp

  • Unwind in a relaxed and peaceful location, away from the hustle and bustle of the park, where you can lie in bed at night and watch the celestial display through the central dome in your yurt roof
  • All the yurts are private, with your own decking looking over the lake, and for some real luxury, you can upgrade to a jacuzzi yurt
  • There is a good variety of excursions which are flexible to your needs
  • Choose from private or group tours to explore the park
  • Situated on private land, the camp boasts its own off-the-beaten-track hiking and lake activities, including kayaking and SUP

Excursions

The secluded location of Patagonia Camp provides a perfect base for exploring the park through a wide range of activities. Trek through beautiful trails and forests, fish in the lake surrounded by the wild flora, or kayak among icebergs in pristine waters.

Hiking

Choose from scenic and short day hikes to full day trekking within the park, including a day hike to the base of the towers, Torres del Paine's iconic viewpoint. As well as venturing into the park, you can also hike from the camp on less well-trodden paths, visiting waterfalls and glaciers, the perfect way to escape the crowds in the high season and feel immersed in nature.

Fly Fishing

The pure waters of Torres del Paine offer anglers the opportunity to fish for Brown Trout, rainbow trout, the particularly hard to find Fontinalis trout, Chinook (King Salmon), Salar and Coho and a diversity of other species. The experience is made all the more surreal by the panoramic views and the serenity that pervades, and all the more exciting by the challenge of reaching some of the rivers.

Other Activities

As extras to an all-inclusive stay, you can add on kayaking on Lago Grey, horse-back riding through the pampa and zodiac trips in Serrano river. These extras can be arranged the night before so there is no need to pre-book.

Pat camp excursion zodiac

Bernardo O’Higgins National Park Excursions

Visit the neighbouring national park on a zodiac trip to Serrano and Balmaceda Glaciers. In a modern Agunsa boat you will navigate across the Ultima Esperanza fjord, passing colonies of cormorants and sea lions with views of the Balmaceda glacier in the distance and enjoying a very special landscape. Next you will board a speedy Zodiac boat which will rapidly take you up the Serrano River with rarely seen panoramic views of the Paine Massif.

We were very happy with their services. From a driver picking us up at the airport, the transportation back to Punta Arenas was great. We had two guides over the three excursion days, and loved them both. Marcelo, and Rosario were so friendly and knowledgeable really can’t say enough about them. Room was wonderful, and the little things like turning down the beds while we were at dinner were very nice. Read the full review

Patagonia Camp is an incredible place! The yurts are wonderful, if noisy at night when the winds are high - it's part of the experience. The guides and excursions were wonderful. We appreciated the variety of excursions in terms of a mix of easier and more difficult opportunities. The staff at Patagonia Camp are absolutely top-notch. Read the full review

About Patagonia Camp

Setting

Located outside Torres del Paine National Park on private land and just a stone's throw from Lago Toro (Lake Toro), the setting for Patagonia Camp provides remoteness, seclusion and exclusivity. You can set off on a hiking trail right from your front door, or take advantage of the lake access and kayak or SUP equipment.

Pat camp Sunset view

Architecture

Patagonia Camp’s architectural design and construction is minimally invasive and harmoniously adapted to the local landscape. The entire complex is built on wooden piles which support the terraces and yurts, as well as the common areas and interconnecting walkways. This building system helps preserve the native plants, shrubs and trees that have grown in the area for hundreds of years and and are home to dozens of species of birds.

Food and Drink

The restaurant at Patagonia Camp serves modern Chilean dishes made with local ingredients, and the camp’s connection with the award-winning Matetic wine vineyard means the wine list is excellent. There is a quincho (BBQ area) cooking up traditional Patagonian Lamb.

The only trouble with basing yourself at Patagonia Camp to explore Torres del Paine is that the property is so beautiful and serene that you won’t want to leave. If time allows, build in an extra day to sleep in, relax, and immerse yourself in the landscape - or at least in the private jacuzzi!
