El Chalten is a fantastic base for hiking around Mount FitzRoy in Argentina’s Los Glaciares National Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You’ll find more thoughts about the town itself in my previous post about El Chalten<\/a><\/span>, but here I’d like to make 4 recommendations for places to stay in El Chalten, for a range of different budgets.<\/p>\n

Best for: Budget camping<\/strong>
\nLago del Desierto
\n\u00a36 <\/strong>per night for camping with hot showers
\nThis campsite is right in the middle of town and very popular with climbers.<\/p>\n

Best for: Good Value<\/strong>
\nHosteria el Paraiso<\/a>
\n\u00a360<\/strong> per night for 2 people in double room
\nClean, quiet, friendly, well located, simple but good breakfasts.
\nGonzalo who works there speaks excellent English and is very friendly and helpful – he can arrange everything for you from taxis and transfers to restaurant bookings and excursions.<\/p>\n

Best for: Well deserved after a few days’ hiking<\/strong>
\nHosteria Senderos<\/a>
\n\u00a3100<\/strong> per night for 2 people in double room <r>
\nBeautiful rooms, many with view out to FitzRoy itself. Nice public rooms and a good breakfast.
\nWhat are people saying on TripAdvisor<\/a>? Above all “cozy”, but also “comfortable” and “friendly”.<\/p>\n

Best for: Luxury <\/strong>
\nLos Cerros<\/a>
\n\u00a3200<\/strong> per night for 2 people in double room
\nElevated a few metres above the rest of the town for great views. Rooms are 4-5 star and there’s a good restaurant and bar downstairs. The public rooms are vaste and filled with books and memorabilia of FitzRoy’s history.
\nWhat are people saying on TripAdvisor<\/a>? Good service and location, but over-priced.<\/p>\n
