Bariloche is considered a year-round destination (unusual for Patagonia), with a range of winter activities such as skiing and snow shoeing at the Cerro Catedral resort from April to September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-066.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-197000\" alt=\"Imagen 066\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-066.jpg\" width=\"3360\" height=\"1328\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During the summer months, you might spend a week or so in Bariloche, enjoying trekking, cycling and kayaking in the nearby Nahuel Huapi National Park (15 miles away in the north-eastern corner of the lake). You can also make the most of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/patagonia\/whitewater-rafting-patagonia\/\">white water rafting<\/a>\u00a0opportunities on the fast-flowing Rio Manso in Nahuel Huapi National Park. Take a look at our ideas for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/bariloche\/#tours\">tours<\/a>\u00a0which include the Argentinian Lake District.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Often people find themselves with just a day or half day to spare in Bariloche itself in between treks or other activities, so Swoop have compiled this list of suggestions for things to do whilst you\u2019re there&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>1) Cycling The Circuito Chico<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Circuit Chico is a 25km undulating route that starts on the south shore of the Nahuel Huapi Lake and takes you all the way around the peninsula. You can stop for break en route at one of the many beaches, and take in the stunning views of the lakes, islands and mountains you will pass.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-196987\" alt=\"Imagen 023\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-023.jpg\" width=\"3376\" height=\"1328\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is a really beautiful route, and we would recommend doing it anti-clockwise if possible. You can travel this route by bus, but if you\u2019d prefer to be more active, it\u2019s fantastic by bike too. There are a few places to hire bikes from, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circuitochicobikes.com\/circuito_chico_mountain_bikes_in_bariloche.html \" target=\"_blank\">Circuito Chico Bikes<\/a>\u00a0, who\u00a0will normally provide you with a map and directions for your trip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-089.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-196981\" alt=\"Imagen 089\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-089.jpg\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have a little longer and are looking for a multi day cycling trip in the area then we have a variety of trips such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/andes-crossing-bike\/\" target=\"_blank\">Andes Crossing by Bike<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0we\u2019d be delighted to tell you more about.<\/p>\n<p><b>2) The Seven Lakes Circuit by Car<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you have only a day in Bariloche, then driving the road north known as the &#8216;Route of the 7 Lakes&#8217; is a great way to spend it! The route takes you from Bariloche to Villa Angostura and on to San Martin de los Andes, through forests, along rivers, and along the shores of some of the most beautiful lakes in Argentina.\u00a0There are a few car hire companies in Bariloche, who rent cars just for the day. It is a long drive but really stunning if the weather is good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IR5833816.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-196983\" alt=\"IR5833816\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IR5833816.jpg\" width=\"475\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The route can also be taken by bus, or if you have a little longer then you can also cycle it. Please get in touch with us if you&#8217;d like more information on longer cycle trips in\/ around Bariloche.<\/p>\n<p><b>3) Day Hikes<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Club Andino Bariloche have an information hut in the town centre, and can provide lots of information about hikes in the area. Their website is also quite helpful. The hike to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubandino.org\/refugios-y-campings\/refugios-index-eng.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Refugio Frey<\/a>, set along the beautiful crystal clear green waters of Laguna Toncek, is a great option for a day hike. Here are the times of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sancarlosdebariloche.info\/informacion_datos_servicios_bariloche\/colectivos_regionales.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Cerro Catedral bus<\/a> for Refugio Frey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/From-Refugio-Frey.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-196950\" alt=\"From Refugio Frey\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/From-Refugio-Frey.jpg\" width=\"461\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have longer than a day then you might consider a multi day hike in\/ around Bariloche, such as this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/hike-hut-hut-bariloche\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hut to Hut<\/a> trip.\u00a0Equally if you\u2019re up for some more challenging mountaineering you might consider Mount Tronador or Lanin Volcano. Please get in touch with us for more information.<\/p>\n<p><b>4) Cable Car to the Best Views<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are two cable cars in Bariloche that get you up to see some really great views. Cerro Campanario, at only 1050m above sea level, can be accessed via chair lift or short hike of 30-40 minutes, and once you reach the top you\u2019ll be treated to some of the best views in Bariloche.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-196985\" alt=\"Imagen 087\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Imagen-087.jpg\" width=\"4960\" height=\"1312\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is also another cable car closer to the centre of Bariloche, which isn&#8217;t quite as high, but the views are still wonderful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-196986 alignright\" alt=\"bariloche beer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/bariloche-beer.jpg\" width=\"205\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>5) Microbreweries<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are a number of micro breweries,in Bariloche, where you can sample some of the finest beer, lager and stout in South America. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cervezaberlina.com\/cerveza\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Cerveza Berlina<\/a> is one of several that has received good reviews, but there are many to choose from!<\/p>\n<p><b>6) Chocolate<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Bariloche is knows as the chocolate capital of Argentina, and there are numerous artisan shops boasting exquisite home made chocolates to treat yourself to after a hard days hiking\/ biking!<\/p>\n<p><b>7)\u00a0<\/b><strong>\u00a0Dining<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check out Sally&#8217;s blog post on top\u00a0places to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/swoops-top-pick-restaurants-throughout-patagonia\/\" target=\"_blank\">eat and drink<\/a> in Patagonia.
