{"id":198245,"date":"2015-10-06T17:51:56","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T16:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.swoop-patagonia.co.uk\/?p=198245"},"modified":"2020-04-01T16:07:30","modified_gmt":"2020-04-01T15:07:30","slug":"eco-yurt-camps-in-torres-del-paine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/eco-yurt-camps-in-torres-del-paine\/","title":{"rendered":"Eco Yurt Camps in Torres del Paine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two main <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/hotels-torres-del-paine#eco-yurt-camps\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eco yurt camps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Torres del Paine: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/patagonia-camp\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patagonia Camp<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/eco-camp-patagonia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EcoCamp<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. On the face of it, the two are quite similar, in that they both provide yurt\/ dome accommodation from where you can explore the national park on day excursions of your choice. To make sure you to get what you want out of your trip, however, there are a few subtle differences that are useful to know before making a decision. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Atmosphere<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Patagonia Camp is smaller (20 yurts compared to 33 at EcoCamp), and a little more relaxed compared with the larger, faster paced EcoCamp, which has a higher turnover of guests. Patagonia Camp tends to attract a more mature crowd overall, whereas EcoCamp has a wider variety of ages. EcoCamp is particularly committed to considering the environment; they have been awarded the Sello S Level 3 \u2013 one of the highest levels of sustainability certifications in Chile and they support the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/supporttdp.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Torres Del Paine Legacy Fund<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At EcoCamp you have a view of the Towers, and are in very close proximity to the base of the towers trek starting point. Patagonia Camp, although a little further out, gives you a lake view from your own private terrace, with the whole Paine massif as a backdrop.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_199283\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-199283\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Torres-del-Paine-accommodation1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-199283 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Torres-del-Paine-accommodation1.gif\" alt=\"Torres-del-Paine-accommodation\" width=\"1200\" height=\"773\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-199283\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Map of Torres del Paine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Accommodation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patagonia Camp, offers three types of yurt: Standard (sleeps 2), Superior (sleeps 2 with a separate lounge space and a jacuzzi) or Family (sleeps 3,4 or 5). They all have heating &#8211; which you\u2019ll definitely want in the colder months &#8211; a private bathroom, and their own private terrace. In order to benefit from these facilities you would need a Superior dome or a Suite dome, which are larger, but of course more expensive. Patagonia Camp offers more off the beaten track adventures as well as the standard routes, and include activities other than trekking, such as horse-riding, kayaking and fishing. Their day excursions however, are a little less flexible, with a selection of 9 excursions running on fixed days of the week. Like Patagonia Camp, in addition to treks, they offer horse riding, kayaking and fishing, as well as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/patagonia-puma-tracking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">puma tracking<\/a>, wild horse tracking&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/patagonia-winter-adventure-5-days\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">m<\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/patagonia-winter-adventure-5-days\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ulti activity winter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> trip. Patagonia Camp has its own vineyard and so the wines also tend to be very good. They then have a different price depending on how many nights you stay, and whether you are a solo traveller willing to share, or want a double\/twin, triple, or quadruple room! The good thing for solo travellers is that there is a (same sex) \u2018willing to share policy\u2019 which removes the single supplement cost.
