Their trip was not without its dramas, as a general transport strike threatened to scupper the couple\u2019s plans to discover the area. Thankfully, our partners and guides in Argentina were on hand to smooth out any problems and ensure they still had a fantastic adventure. Here James shares their adventure with us and gives us feedback on their experience.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>How were Swoop Patagonia?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We are very impressed with your diligent follow-up. How were their guides? Is there anything you would have changed about this part of your trip?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We were quite touched that our guide tried to assess our fitness level and arrange tours accordingly. It was our first time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/perito-moreno\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trekking on ice<\/a> and although we are a young and fit couple we were worried that it would be beyond our ability. As a precaution our guide lent us two trekking poles which were very very handy.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Not many companies are open in Winter, and even the cities themselves are quite quiet with only a few supermarkets open and not much else. But trekking in Winter months is entirely possible.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-199180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7031\" width=\"2448\" height=\"3264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547.jpg 2448w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7031-e1459860748547-624x832.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2448px) 100vw, 2448px\" \/><\/a>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/el-chalten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">El Chalten<\/a>, windy weather meant that we weren&#8217;t able to reach Laguna Torre and headed back after completing 1\/3 of the trek. We did have time for a few hours to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/trekking-in-los-glaciares-national-park#chalten-day-hikes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">go around Mount Fitz Roy<\/a> which was very rewarding.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>What was the highlight of your trip?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/landmark\/el-calafate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">El Calafate<\/a> was one of the main highlights of our trip&#8230; we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! It had always been our dream to see the Perito Moreno glacier. And we happily set off to our tour stopping here and there to take photos of the beautiful landscape and scenery while our guide taught us all about geology to botany and history to zoology. He was also armed with a DSLR Canon and took photos for us throughout the tour, including some close ups of flying condors and eagles with his zoom lens, which he then transferred to our SD cards.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-199178\" src=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7246\" width=\"2304\" height=\"1536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246.jpg 2304w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.swoop-patagonia.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_7246-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2304px) 100vw, 2304px\" \/><\/a>Our guide has been leading trips for more than a decade and is very experienced. It felt like a first-person Discovery Channel documentary with a childhood friend.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>Really thank you very much.
