15th Dec - 15th Jan 2018

Overall, how was your trip?

Highlight was the scenery without a doubt: the Torres, Paine Grande, Los Cuernos, and everything in between. Whether it was snowy, rainy or a beautiful day full of sunshine, we loved every minute of the W trek. We saw many foxes, rabbits, condores and other birds, surprisingly few guanacos.

In one sentence, what did you think of Patagonia? Did it live up to your expectations?

Absolutely, Torres del Paine is incredible. It is one of the most spectacular places on the planet, without a doubt. Breathtaking mountain vistas, serene glacial lakeside hikes, it is a dreamlike setting.

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

The trip and hike lengths were just what we were looking for, so in the end we are glad we chose the hike that we did. The advice in the pre-trip meeting was also helpful. What we didn't understand was why a pre-trip meeting was held separately for each group when we all ended up doing the same tour. We met a Scottish doctor and a Brazilian filmmaker early on in the journey to Torres del Paine and we all noticed we had booked with Dittmar because we were all on the same itinerary and stopping at the same refugios. It would have been nicer if Dittmar or Swoop would've setup meeting them sooner, at a combined pre-trip meeting for instance.

How did you feel about booking directly with our partner(s)?

See above.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Yes, Refugio Paine Grande is dirty (the washrooms were a nightmare) and the front desk and cafeteria staff are an unorganized mess. Why were we told to buy/pack headlamps and torches when hiking at night is very much optional (so much time between stops). Why were we not told to pack a towel??? You or Dittmar should revise your packing list essentials to reflect this. The towel issue was a huge inconvenience for all in our group. We all were puzzled why we were not told this.
