Sara's Trip Date:

15th Oct - 30th Oct 2022

What was your most memorable moment?

Completing the W hike. The W hike was not only a test of the body (and believe you me, this pushed my city-style body beyond what I thought I was capable of), but also of the mind. I attribute my constant smile not only to the overwhelmingly beautiful mountains and scenery, but also to the group of people we (my husband and I) were so fortunate to have met.

Tell us about EcoCamp

10/10 recommend this experience to any and all travelers. The standard domes were cozy and romantic, the dinners were extraordinary, the wine served at dinner was delicious and ALL staff was helpful and friendly. Our guides, Mauricio and Charly, are now part of our global family - could not be happier or more thankful for our experience with them at our sides.

Something Else?

Packing list. In retrospect we did Not need the 40-50L backpack. We DID need a light hiking backpack, I'd estimate 15-20L, for the entirety of our W, but the dry bags carried by porters provided allowed us to bring changes of clothes etc that wouldn't fit into the small backpack? In the future, we'd mention that if you do not already have a 40-50L hiking backpack, it is not necessary to purchase one for this trip- you CAN bring a rolling suitcase for your home base items and then depend on the small hiking backpack for the W hike. The same goes for the Argentinian experience. You can have rolling suitcases for the entirety of this portion of the trip. Last recommendation: Use Xoom for currency exchange to get the better rates while in Argentina in lieu of going to ATMs.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

1. Bring at least ONE pair of dry socks with you in your daytime hiking pack on the W (separate from what you send with the porters) in case your feet get wet crossing rivers. Then tie wet socks to the backpack to dry while you walk. 2. Bring an extra small suitcase/bag to carry home wine :)

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

100%. We have fallen in love with South America and are already anticipating planning a trip to Peru because of our phenomenal experience and introduction to the continent via Swoop.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Give Carys a raise ;) she is great at her job & we are so thankful for her sticking with us through 3 years of waiting for this trip of a lifetime.

Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?

Perhaps just to give us a heads up about the two different currency exchanges in Argentina? Also per uploading images - would be HAPPY to send images, but I am currently on my computer and my photos are all on my phone, is there another method optional to send photos? My email is qabramovitz@gmail.com if you would like some :)
