What was your most memorable moment?

We had dinner with our guide and driver at the Serrano camp- we laughed and shared stories by a fire. The food and beverages were great and the company was even better. I was so pleasantly surprised to meet so many people who spoke English and translated for us. Our Chile Nativo guide was AMAZING- his name is Vincenzo. He has so much passion and enthusiasm for Patagonia- the land, flowers, trees, animals food etc. I feel so lucky that we had him.

Tell us about Torres del Paine

The park is beautiful. We went in Mid October and it was not too crowded. The weather was as expected but we did have some hours of hiking in cold and snow. Vincenzo was such a great coach as to what to wear for the weather and how to pace myself etc. He broiught hot tea. It was great.

Tell us about the Trekking

Trecking on day three was much harder than I expected. Vincenzo and Louise the driver predicted it would be hard for me and arranged for me to have walking sticks - it was so thoughtful and helpful. We had great weather and a nice trek- I am so glad I had a guide that new the mountain so well!

Something Else?

I cannot say enough great things about Vincenzo and Serrano camp! The people went above and beyond expectations. The dome was very comfortable and the food was the best food we had in all our time in Chile.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Mid October was a good time to go because there were less people than there will be in NOV - so I was told. I would much prefer to be cold and then work and dress to heat up than have to find a way to cool down if I was too hot. If you fly through Punta Arenus plan to spend a few hours in that city. Bring binoculars to the park. Be prepared to change plans due to weather. Thanks Swoop!

Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?

Yes, your website is awesome but the information is generic/standard. For example, on the what to pack etc - the list includes things that are not needed for the 3 day trek. I did NOT need a towel nor a bathing suit. SInce space for packing is a challenge that matters. Also- more advice on what kind of backpack is best for the 3 day trek would be helpful.
