Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires

Transfer from Buenos Aires airport to your hotel to drop off your bags before enjoying your three hour private guided city tour.

Soak up the atmosphere at Plaza de Mayo, the site of Argentina's most important historical events. Visit Mayo Avenue and San Telmo, the oldest residential neighbourhood in Buenos Aires.

Live and feel the original Tango in the neighbourhood of La Boca: walk along Caminito Street and enjoy the dancers and souvenir shops.

See the mythical Boca Juniors soccer stadium. Visit Puerto Madero and the docks, bustling with offices, bars and restaurants.

Pass through the Retiro neighbourhood and move on to see Palermo and its most exclusive residential area before finally arriving at Recoleta, the final resting place of Eva "Evita" Peron and wander through the grand Recoleta Cemetery where she is to be found.

Day 2: Half Day Tour of Tigre and San Isidro

Enjoy a small group tour to the Tigre Delta, travelling from the heart of Buenos Aires by catamaran. You will have some of the best views of the city skyline from the River Plate, its northern areas and the channels of the Delta, whilst enjoying refreshments on board. Once in Tigre, visit Paseo Victoria, the Puerto de Frutos, the historical centre of San Isidro, the Cathedral and the Presidential Residence in Olivos, before returning to Buenos Aires.

This evening's highlight is the Argentine Experience: A unique blend of food, wine and interacting with the locals. Learn how to make traditional empanadas, dine on grilled provolet cheese with sliced chorizo sausage, warm bread and homemade chimichurri. Order steak (reputedly the best in Argentina!) in Spanish and make your own traditional mate. A convivial atmosphere and great food! Your guides throughout the evening will answer questions on Argentine cuisine and culture.

Day 3: Fly to Bariloche, drive to Villa la Angostura

Today you will be transferred to the airport in plenty of time for your flight to Bariloche. Upon arrival you will pick up your rental car at the airport and make your way to your hotel. The drive round the shore of the lake is short but very beautiful, a great introduction to the Lake District. Length of drive: 1 hour, 80km

Day 4: Free Day in Villa la Angostura

This is a free day to explore the Arrayanes National Park, where there are some great walks, or maybe take a boat trip out on the lake.

Day 5: Villa la Angostura to San Martin de los Andes

Great day today, as you will be driving along the famous Seven Lakes road to San Martin de los Andes. Although it is not far, the drive will involve several stops for photos. Length of drive: 4 hours, 167km

Day 6: Free day San Martin de los Andes

Today is a free day so you can enjoy this superb mountain town. We recommend that you make a visit to the Lanin Volcano and Huechulaufquen National Park. There is a also the world class Chapelco golf course nearby. Overnight in San Martin de los Andes.

Day 7: San Martin de los Andes to Bariloche

Drive back to Bariloche on a paved road in good conditions. The road today is different to the one you took from Bariloche to San Martin de los Andes. You will drive along good roads and past different estancias (ranches).

Length of drive: 3.5 hours, 260km

Day 8: Drop off hire car in Bariloche, lake crossing to Puerto Varas

You'll travel by bus from your hotels in Bariloche to Puerto Panuelo, passing by Lake Nahuel Huapi. En route, you'll marvel at the beautiful Swiss-style architecture that characterises the constructions of the area. Beautiful gardens and flowers color the landscapes all the way to Puerto Panuelo. You'll sail from Puerto Panuelo to Puerto Blest aboard the Gran Victoria, navigating across Lake Nahuel Huapi. You'll observe the grandeur of the landscapes, the green tones of the forests, the birds that fly close and you'll learn more about the destination's fascinating history.

Arrival to Puerto Blest. You'll travel by bus along River Frias to Puerto Alegre, and then continue the sailing trip across Lake Frias, aboard the Victoria del Sur. Along this stretch of the lake, you'll experience beautiful views of Cerro Tronador. After a short sail, you'll arrive to Puerto Frias where we will complete the necessary steps at the border. You'll continue by bus to Peulla with beautiful views of the Andes Mountains. Arrival to Peulla, an ecological lodge and a paradise for nature lovers. Lunch (additional cost). You'll then sail through to Petrohue, navigating across Lake Todos los Santos. If the weather permits, different and breathtaking views of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes and Cerro Tronador can be seen. You'll continue to Puerto Varas, passing by Lake Llanquihue. Impressive views of Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes dominate the landscape before arriving in Puerto Varas.

Day 9: Petrohue Falls, Vicente Perez Rosales Park, Peulla

Your guide will collect you from your hotel in the morning and take a scenic drive along the shore of the Llanquihue Lake, passing beaches and the town of Ensenada before reaching Petrohue which is located in Vicente Perez Rosales park, the first park opened in Chile in 1926. Enjoy a stop at the beautiful Petrohue Falls where waterfalls cascade through channels formed by a combination of lava flows and water erosion. From Petrohue a catamaran will be waiting for you to sail across the beautiful Todos Los Santos Lake to the town of Peulla. Located in the center of the Andes, Peulla is a extremely close to the the Argentinean border. You will have time for lunch and if you would like to, then a walk in the national park before heading back to Puerto Varas in the afternoon.

Puerto Varas offers a great base for activities and exploring this beautiful centre of the Chilean Lake District. You could spend time relaxing in and around the town and lake shores or join the the lakes and breweries on a bike and beer ride. Alternatively, hire a car and explore the region at your own pace today. For those looking for a more adventure, perhaps try kayaking or enjoying some of the great hiking to be had around the base of the Osorno Volcano and the surrounding national parks with their abundance of bird life and diversity of vegetation.

Day 11: Puerto Varas - Puerto Montt, fly to Santiago, city tour

After breakfast you will depart to Puerto Montt for a brief city tour including the lively fish market of Angelmo before continuing to Puerto Montt Airport for your flight to Santiago.

Upon arrival in Santiago, a private transfer and guide will be waiting for you at the airport to drive you to your hotel. After check-in you will enjoy a half day private guided tour of Santiago, experiencing the city's diverse highlights with all your senses.

Visit historic Santa Lucia Hill, in Barrio Bella Vista. Consisting of parkland, rising 69 metres above the surrounding areas and now adorned with ornate facades, stairways and fountains, it was on this hill that the city was founded in 1541.

Continue to the Paris-Londres neighbourhood, home to some of the most impressive colonial architecture before slowing down to briefly unwind with the locals and take in a curiosity unique to Santiago as you take coffee at one of the notorious and racy "cafe con piernas".

From there, you pass through some of the most interesting streets of the city, filled with history from the different waves of immigrants in this ethnically diverse city. Then wander around the art nouveau Mercado Central (Central Market), considered by National Geographic as one of the top ten food markets in the world and known for both its cuisine and exotic fish stores. You will also visit the Vega Chica Market boasting some of the best flavours, scents and colours of this metropolis where you will try a traditional Chilean drink, the Cola de Mono.

The penultimate highlight is a walk through a renowned flower market filled with colourful displays and beautiful scents before ending your tour by exploring the lovely Lastarria Neighbourhood.

Day 12: Santiago - Casablanca Valley & Valparaiso

Today includes an exciting journey to Valparaiso, via wine tasting in the famous Casablanca Valley, renowned for its Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs, but also producing some lovely Pinot Noirs. First of all, In the morning, you will travel through lush Curacavi valley, known for its fruit farming and delightful restaurants offering traditional Chilean food. Continue into Casablanca Valley, about 80 kilometres West of Santiago, where a winemaking revolution has positioned Casablanca as one of Chile's most important wine making regions for the production of premium white wine. You will enjoy a tour and wine tasting at the Casas del Bosque vineyard.

After your wine experience you will drive on to Valparaiso, the oldest and most important port of Chile. Valparaiso's picturesque layout is enhanced by the surrounding hills that seem to dive into the ocean. Spend time with your guide walking through the city's winding streets and enjoying what once was the most important maritime destination of the Pacific coast.
