What was your most memorable moment?

Seeing the glaciers in Parque de los Glaciares, sharing a dorm with the group in Torres del Paine, admiring the colours of every single lagoon and lake, beeing surrounded by mountains and glaciers in the French Valley.

Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Tell us about Torres del Paine

Gorgeous landscapes, strenous hikes, especially on the last day; weather better than expected (we experienced the viento patagónico and a bit of rain, but had a lot of sunshine too). Group life was great! Accomdation ranked from top to bottom.

Tell us about Los Glaciares

The biggest surprise of the trip, wouldn‘t have gone there on my own. Very long but rewarding day hikes, lots of glaciers too see, outstanding veggie lunchboxes, a very nice hotel (Cumbres Nevadas) with great staff, good vibes in lovely El Chaltén. Very good guides!

Tell us about the Trekking

Long and challening, especially the ones in Torres, the last day was a battle for me. But I made it.

Something Else?

The guide in Torres was a nice guy but he did not have an continous eye on the group. Sometimes, some participants wanted to leave breaks (I am not speaking of me) earlier in order to have more time for the descent and he let them go. He did not keep the group together during the hikes. Risky, in my opinion.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Don‘t worry to much about the weather. Grab your waterproof windbreaker, rain pants and a light fleece and go. Train as much as possible. Don‘t forget stomach pills and flipflops for the camps.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I was aware that nature is precious, which this trip intensified. There is a lot of need of education in this world, seeing trash in Los Glaciares was shocking. The exchange with locals once more showed me how blessed we are in Europe, despite the challenges we have.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Sydney was great! General feedback: You guys send too many e-mails with less relevant information. I can read about food in Patagonia in guide books or in the travel panner, for example. Info should be more focused. The individual travel planner should be made available as PDF by e-mail. Travel banner should be revisited, again, too many general info. Also, there was an issue with saving my data.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

Prepared but very excited.
