Tell us about EcoCamp

Requested 2 beds and they provided a single bed Did not like having to arrive on day 1, then immediately check out morning of day 2 and then re-check in day 3. Did not pay for outdoor camping - was told we had to camp in tent despite paying $650/day. Guides were nice but didn't talk about the area, history or any type of commentary beyond the itinerary. Kayak excursion canceled and nothing offered as an alternative.

Were Swoop right to recommend Cascada?

Yes

It did but weather is certainly fickle - we got lucky but many others did not

Tell us about the Trekking

Group was probably too big with 11 people - took too long to wait for people to show up, every time we stopped it took a while to get going, pace was slower than it should have been do to sprained ankles. Much of tour dominated with conversation about a guest's ankle and whether she would make it to the top. Trekking could have been more strenous.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Didn't get to do this. No one offered any alternative day or activity or any communication at all other than it was canceled at the last minute - after I had to ask 5 people about it.

Did not like the camping - I paid for a superior dome yet was expected to sleep on a dirty mat in a sleeping bag. When I inquired about this, I was told I could pay more for a refugio - that it wasn't included.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

No poncho - too windy to wear and easy to trip - need a cover to waterproof backpack. Be prepared for excursions to be regularly canceled for rain or wind. Walking sticks that are recommended to everyone just get in the way for 80% of the rest of the time - they are really not needed unless you have leg issues.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

You do a great job marketing - but the handoff with Cascada is not great. Wondered the whole time how much I was overpaying having booked with Swoop.

Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?

Felt like Swoop is hands off once you book - but if you are going to resell others - you have to either continue to provide concierge service or assure people that you are just a booking/referral agent and don't charge more than booking direct
