We had a 72 year old on the hike which i thought was unacceptable. He was too slow and we had to wait every day for him. We understand that in a group setting there will always be slow and fast hikers. But a 72 year old man with a bad knee did make it very frustrating. It’s not fair on the other hikers
Tell us about EcoCamp
Exceeded expectations. The food was amazing, especially what you get to pack for lunch. Dinner did leave a bit to be desired though and was not enough food especially given the long distances one was hiking. Guides excellentg
Tell us about Torres del Paine
One point of improvement is that none of the distance markers work at all, some were out by 25% which is a lot when you are hiking a long way and trying to plan nutrition
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Use a travel agent/tour company like swoop Stay at a hotel or campsite inside the national park so you don’t have to travel in Pack snacks Pack clothes for all seasons
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
An increased appreciation for how rapidly the natural environment is being impacted by climate change
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Gave feedback earlier on the need for an age limit or at least making sure that very old people perhaps all hike together? Instead of lumping them with others…
