What was your most memorable moment?

The Perito Moreno glacier was the most breathtaking and unusual, but loved all of the scenery in Patagonia. What a wonder. And loved Pat camp

Tell us about Patagonia Camp

Great food, accommodations, staff, excursions. We didn’t have the choices we thought we would have. System should be changed to match up people w sign ups or computer. Description was misleading. Current method is confusing and bad. Some safety issues I mentioned to them. Nonetheless, we loved it. Would go back in a heartbeat if it were closer

Tell us about Los Glaciares

The glacier was unbelievably awesome. A must see. Didn’t like the hotel in El Calefate— shower didn’t work. Only staff people we met who weren’t nice (except Estancia Bonanza), one desk person was rude, and unwelcoming. The nice one cheated my husband out of a couple of dollars on a money exchange. Brazen — he let it go

Tell us about Santiago

Nice city, but didn’t feel like we needed much more time there. Enjoyed Casa Blanca tho winery lunch was over the top in price. I thought it tacky that they sprung the fact that we should pay the top on an overpriced lunch w specifics of amt. SF prices! Would have preferred a smaller winery w a more typical Chilean lunch. Happy to pay tips, but if it’s going to be huge, we should be warned in advance. Valparaiso was very interesting. Warning re amt of walking and stairs would’ve been helpful.

Fabulous!

Something Else?

Sidney said the kayaking was easy, lake smooth. It was scary dangerous. Since wind is common I’m guessing that is common there too, so misleading.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

March is a good time, but always weather is chancy. Tons of mosquitoes in BA

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Want to protect the glaciers

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I mentioned the kayaking above. Mileage estimates of the various hikes would be helpful— 3 mi or 5 K rather than walk for an hour and a half. Don’t recommend dinner at Estabcia Bonanza or dealing with their nasty staff. Check on road conditions— if they stay as bad as they were in El Chalten warn people. Drives took 3 x as long and made me sick, I had to throw up in the bushes. Glad I skipped the drive to Lago Desierto — 3 hours of it. Ugh!

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

Very excited, well prepared equipment and clothing wise. Not clear on excursion details and difficulty
