Tell us about Aysen

Aysen has a warm beauty, and is breathtaking at every turn. I live in Montana, and would say that Aysen is Montana on steroids. The Chilean culture was very interesting, with caring and helpful people.

Tell us about the Road Trip

It is the greatest road trip I have ever taken. The diversity of the scenery...lakes, rivers, ocean, mountains, valleys, Natl. parks., animals, and culture were amazing. My driver, Don Gaston, was a true professional, and knew how to take us into some wild roads, unpaved, and high up in the Andes. My guides, Mary, and then Vanessa, were very knowledgeable, engaging, and downright fun and enjoyable. I can't imagine dream trip with anyone else..they were all neat human beings.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Mary was fabulous. I have a neuromuscular condition, and she was able to make kayaking really easy and enjoyable because of her kindness, athleticism, and patience. The marble caves were amazing.

Something Else?

I enjoyed the people I met in Aysen as much as it's geological wonders. Also, the driver Christian that picked me up from the airport, and drove me back, was so enjoyable. We managed to communicate well, in spite of neither being fluent in each other's main language. Mary, Vanessa, Don Gaston and Christian were a huge pat of why this trip is so close to my heart. Also, Nico and gang were also helpful, friendly, and so professional is putting together this trip.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I believe I've said it. It's about the people as much as the surroundings.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Fabuloso!

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

I had been to other regions of Patagonia before, but was just a excited, and felt very prepared. I have to say, this trip was even more enjoyable than my first. My husband does not have the interest in travel that I do. So, I have travelled alone. These wonderful people I met, and also the guides and drivers, brought a great dimension of connection to folks in a different culture. I felt sincerley welcomed to Aysen.
