What was your most memorable moment?
Our most memorable moment was on our second day at EcoCamp, it had rained all morning and part of the afternoon and we had hiked in the rain. After dinner we came out to a clear sky with a full moon shining on the Towers, the pictures we took with the moon illumination were breathtaking. Definitely a memory. We had 4 day of gorgeous weather, all the guides and locals said, "never happens for 4 days. And the views of the Milky Way a few day later wasn't bad either.

Tell us about EcoCamp
We are used to hiking just the two of us, hard for us to accommodate a group pace. We are used to examining rocks for fossils, and history and look at every plant and flower as we hike. We are more interested in the Journey than the destination. The guides are ALL about the destination and managing a pace to get to the destination. We made arrangements to sign waivers and carry a radio so we could hike by ourselves along the lake. Best 15 mile hike of the entire adventure. That option should be presented to guests.
Tell us about the Trekking
Guides were wonderful. The scenery is gorgeous when the weather is perfect, and that is beyond anyone's control. I think people need to understand that they need to modify their hiking to meet a group environment. We've hiked over 2,500 miles, across all the national parks in the US, but this is the first time we have done group hikes. We discovered it's not our thing. If you are used to hiking alone, just the two of you, then this is an adjustment you need to be aware of.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
The towers are everything you would expect, and for us to have clear skies for 4 days to admire was a gift. Every time we looked up, they were there, and visible for us to admire. Sorry we couldn't do the French Valley hike, we hiked almost to it along the lake, but it's just too far for a day trip from EcoCamp.
Tell us about Los Glaciares
The town of El Chalten is in a beautiful spot. Every view from town includes a beautiful mountain. We also enjoyed the cruise Perrito Merano glacier. The rain forest was a nice add to that trip.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It has given us a much better appreciation for South America in general and an awareness of the Southern Ice Field that we did not have before. We also spent time exploring the tragic history of Chile when we stayed in Santiago. It just makes your heart bleed for the people that the Pinochet regime murdered.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
We were getting very prepared and training, but unfortunately we live in Minnesota, Minneapolis area and everything changed when we were invaded by ICE. We had to stop training and help our neighbors, so we were much less prepared for the trip that we had hoped.
Would you consider another trip to Patagonia with Swoop?

Would you be interested in travelling to Antarctica with Swoop?

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Please see answers below, these have nothing to do with a dissatisfaction with Swoop. We would never travel to Antartica, too fragile an environment for human beings to invade. This was also a bucket list trip, so we would not be returning to Southern South America again.
