What was your most memorable moment?

There were several every day. Rainbows in front of mountains, mountains reflecting on a still lake, the blue of water filled with glacial silt, the unintended and lucky puma sightings, and laughing with the guides. My favorite hike was the least crowded and most diverse was the Trail of Water: Lazo to Weber Bridge.

Tell us about EcoCamp

Everything was excellent in terms of housing, food, and staffing. The only drawback, which I understand is an exclusion they hype, was the lack of internet access. I understand wanting to minimize people sitting on their phones all day, but on the other hand, this is a camp of adults. Being able to say goodnight to elderly loved ones or touch base that things are okay with your business in the abscence of all phone signal would be a welcome addition. It could be regulated by time available or to just one area of the camp.

Tell us about Torres del Paine

I spent my entire trip focused on this area (other than entering and exiting through Santiago), and I am glad I did. Having time to experience the park from different locations and even the different animals spotted while driving cannot be done in just a couple of days. An incredibly beautiful area.

Tell us about Santiago

The hotels chosen by Swoop were both excellent in terms of accomodations and helpful staff.

Tell us about the Excursions

Every guide at Ecocamp was excellent, especially G and Nico. The hiking pace was sometimes too slow and having the option to go ahead of the group sometimes was much appreciated flexibility. Every hike was memorable for different reasons and I liked having multiple options each day from which to choose.

Something Else?

I appreciated the timely and helpful responses from Swoop staff.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Depending on where you originate, the flight times can be very long. From Seattle, the three flights totaled close to 20 hours, not counting layovers. My advice would be to break up the trip and stay in Santiago a couple of nights coming and going.

Would you consider another trip to Patagonia with Swoop?
