What was your most memorable moment?
The Antarctica21 cruise, this was always expected to be the most memorable part of the holiday just from where we were going through, however we were not expecting the quality of the service and professionalism of the expedition crew.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Do the private guided trips, they are worth the cost to get that inside view and going to places that you might not be able to get to on your own. I made a mistake getting US Dollars for when in Argentina, they will take them but it is not obvious and they have to do a conversion, best to get local currency.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I have never liked being part of a guided tour with lots of other people, this was my first experience of a private guided tour and I am converted.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
We dealt initially with Peter and it was great to meet him on our cruise and so he knows how much we were enjoying ourselves. Cecilia took over from him as our contact once the booking was to be finalised and she was very supportive and knowledgeable throughout the year whilst we awaited the trip. There was an issue that did greatly spoil our anticipation of the trip in the month immediately before, where we had a high risk of not being allowed on the cruise, our main part of the holiday, due to an Antarctica21 medical form that required a doctors sign off. The notice received of this was short and UK NHS doctors do not like signing waivers, the private doctor we approached needed a full medical history which had a 30 day lead time to be provided by the NHS. I also found out that if the form could not get signed then the travel insurance would not accept a claim as we were responsible for all forms and visas, a lot of money to lose. However Cecilia and the team managed to sort an alternative way through this and saved our holiday. I believe Swoop have already identified and taken on board any learning recommendations for this.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
I read all the advice notes on the Swoop site and found them extremely helpful, I also did my own search for information as this is what I enjoy in preparing for a holiday. This was a special holiday and we were very excited to go on it. The one item we were not prepared for the medical form. This requirement did seem to be based on the medical questionnaire answers, it would have been good if Antarctica21 could have given a prewarning that this could be required for any of their trips.
