Tell us about Los Glaciares
We loved El Chalten and El Calafate is really pretty. The Perito Moreno glacier is breathtaking
Tell us about the Wildlife
We saw guanacos, rheas, deer, penguins, foxes, owls, woodpeckers and more. Our guides were great at spotting animals and very respectful of wildlife.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Make sure you’re fit and ready to do long back to back hikes, with significant elevation, it’s worth it! We had to use an ATM a few times as most tipping is preferred in cash, even if you can do it on a card.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
We are more committed to hiking around our home town. Also we were so impressed with the diversity of both Chile and Argentina (especially Argentina) from cities to untamed nature, it’s an experience you won’t get anywhere else.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
When planning the trip I’d recommend emphasizing the need to be trained to do the hikes, if you do the W Trek and Los Glacieres it’s a lot of hiking in week. What every traveller wants is unique so it’s hard to say, but I would recommend not staying overnight in Porvenir
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
Very prepared and very excited! We appreciated the virtual meeting, and Tomas was super helpful in planning. Marcela was great in reinforcing the need to train for the hikes and she and Cristian were responsive. I forgot to mention Valentina in Los Glacieres was an excellent guide too!
