Staying at Tierra Patagonia. Everything was exceptional: the views, the excursions, the staff, the amenities, the food.

Tell us about Tierra Patagonia
Amazing!!! I kind of wish I had scheduled this portion last, as everything after felt slightly disappointing in comparison. Everything else was great, but it wasn’t Tierra.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
We loved our hikes and other excursions in Torres del Paine. The fall foliage was beautiful and we had great weather conditions. The hikes were much less crowded than I hear they are in the summer, which was nice.
Tell us about Los Glaciares
We loved el Chalten and the ability to start hikes from town. Hosteria el puma was great. I think we underestimated the cold during this portion and could’ve packed a little better. We also loved estancia nibepo aike - the people and food were wonderful and it was cool to experience life on the estancia. El calafate was fine, but just felt like a place people pass through. If I had realized we would be staying for such a short time, I would’ve picked a hotel closer to town than Los ponchos, which is a couple miles out.
Tell us about the Excursions
Our Tierra excursions were amazing! We had 2 different guides who were both super knowledgeable and fun, and we had pretty ideal weather conditions. We enjoyed the dia del campo at the estancia and the glacier excursion. We were the only ones on our glacier tour, so we felt kind of bad they were running the tour with just us, but our guide was wonderful and the glacier was very cool to see. We did 2 hikes in el Chalten: Laguna de Los tres was difficult - it snowed a lot and we didn’t have crampons. Thankfully walk Patagonia let us borrow hiking poles, as we had also borrowed from Tierra and didn’t bring our own. We were supposed to do Laguna torre the next day, but it rained all morning and we were exhausted from the day before. We ended up doing a shorter hike in the afternoon which was nice.
Something Else?
We also felt that some of our travel days were unnecessarily long, for example we got picked up at el puma at 10am for a 5pm flight out of el calafate. Not sure if situations like this are avoidable, but it felt like travel ate up our days sometimes.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
Go to Tierra Patagonia!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I had never done hikes as long as base of the towers and Laguna de Los tres, so it was cool to challenge myself in that way.
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
So excited. I felt prepared from an itinerary / logistics perspective, but really didn’t know what to expect in each location. I wish I would’ve packed a little differently for the conditions.
