Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from airport, arrival at the Lodge.

Arrival into Castro airport. Transfer to your accommodation, with its distinctive architecture, on the shores of the island. Take the opportunity to enjoy a half day excursion in the local area or instead explore the hotel, relax, enjoy the surrounding nature and wildlife, or relax in the spa.

Days 2-4: Choose your excursion!

Every day of your stay at the lodge you will have the chance to choose your excursion for the day. You can choose from both land and sea based adventures based on your ability, mood and the weather! This will help you to make the most of your adventure on Chiloe Island. See below for details of available excursions.

Day 5: Transfer to Airport

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Castro Airport for your onward travel.

Excursion Opportunities

Quinchao Island

Duration: Full day

Difficulty: Easy

This is a short trip by van to the village of Dalcahue where you will board a ferry to cross the channel over to the Island of Quinchao.  On the Island, visit some churches declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in addition to several famous villages such as Curaco de Velez, Achao, and other smaller attractive towns such as Quinchao and San Javier. During the trip you have a special chance to stop at scenic overlooks of the countryside and ocean, Chiloe architecture, local crafts and history, along with other surprises. You will take in one more panoramic view of that side of the archipelago and then begin your trip back to the hotel.

Dos Lagos

Duration: Full day

Difficulty: Easy

You will head southbound to the Chiloe National Park, near Lake Cucao, where you can walk along the forest trails lined with Tepu trees and views of the Pacific Ocean.  On the return trip you will stop by Lake Huillinco and visit the Vilupulli Church, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Quilquico (Horse riding)

Duration: Half day

Difficulty: Easy - Moderate

Departing from the Hotel you will take the trail leading to the southern end of the beach. This trail will take you very close to the Pullao wetlands where you may have the chance to do some migratory bird watching.  Further on you will arrive at the local blacksmith's house, where you can see some tools and instruments typically used in Chiloe to work the land.  From there you will ride up the trail while enjoying a wide panoramic view, ending up in the village of Quilquico.  After winding along several inland trails crossing over fields, return to the hotel.

Chonchi - Quehui (at sea)

Duration: Full day 

Difficulty: Easy

You will travel by van to the village of Chonchi where you will take a walking tour of the historic neighborhood, stopping to enjoy the old homes along the way. This visit also includes the old local museum, the church (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the waterfront. You will then board the vessel Williche, en route to the islands of Lemuy, Chelin and Quehui, navigating along the coastline in order to view the islands from the inland sea.  The next stop will be the islands of Chelin and Quehui.  You will return home aboard the vessel Williche.

This trip can run as a group trip, with prices starting from $1,900 per person for a complete group. If you are looking to join a group or you are a solo traveller we will help to form likeminded groups of travellers. Please let us know your travel plans.

The trip can also run on a private basis to fit around your plans. Departures may be tailored and can be set up on a date of your choice. Please note that there is a higher price for smaller groups. Please enquire for further details.
