Unlike many itineraries, it includes mountain refugio accommodation as well as camping, & includes all of your transport & accommodation from the moment you land to the moment you fly out.

Operator's Itinerary

Day 1 - Puerto Natales:

Our guide will meet you at the Punta Arenas airport. Transfer to Puerto Natales, by a three-hour drive through the Patagonian pampa. Lodging at Natalino hotel or similar. Welcome dinner and meeting to discuss trip program.

Day 2 - Torres del Paine:

We start our trip with a transfer by van to Torres del Paine National Park. This two-hour journey through ranch country includes a stop in Cerro Castillo, the principal site of wool and meat exportation to Europe during the 1960s. Arrival at Torres del Paine. Trek to the base of The Towers a spectacular hike to view the three pink granite towers that made the park famous. Lodging and dinner at Refugio Torres.

Day 3 - Seron:

Today we start our trek around the Paine Massif. In the morning we will meet our porters, load up our gear and head out across ancient glacial moraines on the way to Camp Seron. The trail goes through Lenga forests where we often see Austral parakeets, several species of geese and the occasional guanaco and fox. Lodging and dinner at Camp Seron.

Day 4 - Dickson:

Early breakfast for the hike to Lago Dickson , a glacial lake on the edge of the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap. We hike past bright blooming Notro bushes and make a stream crossing along the lake. A beautiful, leisurely hike. Here we can take hot showers at the refugio and you can buy a cold beer! Lodging and dinner at Refugio Dickson.

Day 5 - Perros:

Today we don our packs and head out for a hike that is one of our personal favorites through pristine, old growth beech forest. We almost always see the incredible red-headed magellanic woodpecker. Just before we arrive to our camp we will trek past glacier Perros with fantastic close up views of the glacier and its lake. We spend the night camping at the base of Paso John Garner at Los Perros.

Day 6 - El Paso:

Today is our biggest day of hiking as we climb over Paso John Garner and down through thick forest directly above the massive Glaciar Grey. Once on the pass we look out over rugged, glaciated peaks and the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap - a view not to be missed! The Grey Glacier stretches out below us like a huge white highway. The trek continues descending towards Lake Grey through lenga forest where every so often appears a terrace looking out over Glacier Grey and the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap.  Lodging and dinner at Refugio Grey.

Day 7 - Grey Glacier Ice Hiking:

After breakfast, the guides will have an introductory chat about the ice hike, and explain the route, the time the tour will take and also test the equipment, and adjust it correctly for each person. Then, we travel in a zodiac boat for  about 15 minutes until we reach the west side of the Grey Glacier. On arrival, we will disembark on the island at the glacier (Nunatak) and we will walk on it for about an hour until we reach the ice. Before walking onto the glacier, the guide will talk to us about the safety aspects, and they will explain the techniques of displacement in the ice and the correct use of the equipment. Once the safety briefing is complete we will begin our exploration of the Grey Glacier which will last approximately 3 hours. During this time we will be able to observe cracks, rivers, lagoons and tunnels with their different tones of blue.

Day 8 - Pehoe Lake:

OPTIONAL KAYAKING (not included in the price):

From our base camp, located on the northeast coast of Lake Grey our guides will introduce us to the equipment needed for the tour and we will have a safety briefing. After this, we will carry the kayaks approximately 20 meters to the lake's edge. Now the tour really begins! We will be paddling around icebergs that are floating in the lake and afterwards we paddle towards the eastern side of the Grey Glacier to wonder at the spectacular scenery in this special place. If conditions permit, we can paddle closer to the glacier to get a really good view. After this, we will paddle back to the start point. 


During the afternoon we will cross a high plateau overlooking Lago Grey with its icebergs and the Grey Glacier on our way to Lago Pehoe, meaning "hidden lake" in the Tehuelche language. The afternoon will be free to relax at Lodge Paine Grande and enjoy the area. Lodging and dinner is at Lodge Paine Grande where you can enjoy a pisco sour in the bar that overlooks Paine Grande & Los Cuernos mountains in the beautiful evening light.

Day 9 - French Valley 

Trek to the French Valley. This valley is unique and one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. Its surrounded by hanging glaciers (where you can see & hear the ice calving off at various intervals) and an amphitheater of granite walls and spires. There are amazing views throughout this trek and the further you trek into the valley the better they become!

For this day we have two hiking options: The first consists of getting to the farthest end of the trail, to the British Camp, this is all the way to the end of this natural congregation of mountains. If we reach this point, we will have completed 24km and 7-8 hours hiking. The second option consists of reaching the French Valley Main Lookout, from this point you can appreciate the whole natural amphitheater created by glaciers millions of years ago, it is absolutely breathtaking. If you take this option, you will have hiked for 5-6 hours and completed 16km. The options will depend on fitness levels, timing and weather conditions. Lodging and dinner will be at Los Cuernos refugio or camp.

Day 10 - Bader Valley:

Trek to the Bader Valley, off the beaten track and a special treat! The trail towards the valley begins with trekking 20mins from refugio Los Cuernos. From here the first 45 minutes is uphill towards the campsite that is set up for climbers. The trail then crosses the Bader river where you are now in the valley. The views are spectacular where you can see the tall imposing granite walls of the Cuerno Principal, Este & Norte (the principal, East & North Horns), along with the Espada, Hoja, Mascara & Almirante Nieto peaks. After trekking two more hours we will arrive to the slabs of the East Horn (weather conditions permitting). From here you are able to see the whole valley below!  Lodging and dinner will be at Los Cuernos refugio or camp.

Day 11 - Nordenskjold Lake:

Trek along Lake Nordenskjold and below the hanging glaciers of Mount Almirante Nieto, to the reach Hosteria Las Torres, our van will be waiting at the parking lot. Transfer to Puerto Natales. Farewell dinner and lodging at Natalino Hotel.

Day 12 - Punta Arenas:

We will transfer you to Punta Arenas airport, and this marks the end of our services.

This trip can run as a group trip, with prices starting from $3,230 per person for a complete group. If you are looking to join a group or you are a solo traveller we will help to form likeminded groups of travellers. Please let us know your travel plans.

Please be aware, that you will carry your pack on days 3- 11 of the itinerary which will be around 10kg. Items you will need to carry include: sleeping bag, your clothes for the trip, lunch for the day and any other personal items. If you would like a porter, there is an additional cost of U$120 per day. Each porter can carry 15 kg max, which means that one porter can be used by two trekkers.
