Operator's Itinerary
Day 1: Bernardo O'Higgins & Torres del Paine National Parks
Please arrive in Puerto Natales the day before your trip starts so that you can attend a trip briefing. Shared transfers are available from Punta Arenas and El Calafate, but must be booked in advance.
You'll be picked up at 7am from your hotel in Puerto Natales and take a short drive to the port. On arrival, you'll take a boat to the stunning Serrano and Balmaceda glaciers before disembarking at Puerto Toro from where your trek begins.
Today you'll walk through nothofagus forests, filled with diverse flora and fauna to reach a viewpoint with amazing panoramic views of the Tyndall Glacier and the Torres del Paine massif.
You'll then head to your campsite at Lake Brush and settle in for the night.
Length of hike: 4 hours, 14km/8.7 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Lake Brush Campsite
Day 2: Lake Brush to Serrano Village & Lake Grey
You'll leave the campsite at Lake Brush after breakfast and trek past Lake del Jote as you make your way to Serrano Village.
Today's wild hiking will take you on old horse trails, footpaths that are rarely trodden and, at times, through some densely forested terrain as the undulating route follows the immense Serrano River which flows from the National park, southwards. Whilst the route is not technically difficult or particularly steep, the remoteness of it, plus the obligatory river crossings where your feet will get wet, will make today's hiking feel truly epic as you get closer to the Torres del Paine National Park. You will almost certainly need to have footwear for crossing rivers.
When you reach Serrano Village, a van will take you to Hotel Lago Grey where you'll have dinner and spend the night.
Length of hike: 4 hours, 13km/8 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Lago Grey or equivalent
Day 3: Grey boat trip; Hike to Paine Grande campsite
Today you'll take a 9am boat trip all the way up Lake Grey to Refugio Grey. From here you'll start the day's trek to a viewpoint from where there are fantastic views of the immense Grey Glacier. The walk then heads south along the shores of Lake Grey to the northern shore of Lake Pehoé.
Today's trek will end with a gentle climb through undulating terrain of grassland and forests to reach the campsite at Refugio Paine Grande.
Length of hike: 4 hours, 11km/6.8 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Campsite at Refugio Paine Grande
Day 4: To the French Valley and Los Cuernos/Francés campsite
Today you'll undertake a challenging trek on a steep trail through the French Valley and right into the heart of the Paine Massif.
The first section of the walk will take you to the hanging bridge over the French River, after which you'll continue your ascent of the upper section of the valley with stunning views of the surrounding geological formations.
You'll have lunch and a rest stop at the top of the climb, before heading back down and finally arriving at either Los Cuernos or Francés campsites where you'll have dinner and spend the night.
Length of hike: 10 hours, 26km/16.2 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Campsite at Refugio Los Cuernos or Francés
Day 5: Hike from Los Cuernos/Francés campsite to EcoCamp Patagonia
Today you'll continue following the Cuernos Trail along the beautiful Lake Nordenskjöld. You'll have plenty of time to take in the varied flora and great views of the famous horns of the Paine Massif.
Today's walk will finish at EcoCamp Patagonia where you can enjoy dinner with some Chilean wine and a relaxing night in preparation for the highlight tomorrow.
Length of hike: 4-5 hours, 12km/7.5 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: EcoCamp Patagonia
Day 6: Hike to the base of the Towers
Today is the highlight of your trip - the famous trek to the base of the Towers. You'll head out from EcoCamp towards Hotel Las Torres before starting the ascent in the Ascencio Valley.
During the ascent, there is a steep moraine to negotiate and some tough uphill sections before you reach the viewpoint at the base of the Towers with a glacial lake visible below.
This is possibly the best-located lunch stop in the world - you'll have time to rest and take it all in before retracing your steps to EcoCamp where you'll relax, have dinner and celebrate your adventures with some Chilean wine.
Length of hike: 9 hours, 22km/13.7 miles
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: EcoCamp Patagonia
Day 7: Transfer to Puerto Natales
Today you'll take an early-morning, shared transfer from EcoCamp to Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas in time for you to catch an evening flight.
If you are travelling to El Calafate in Argentina, you'll need to book an early transfer at extra cost.
All transfers must be booked in advance.
