Operator's Itinerary
Day 1 - Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park:
At 6:30am, we will pick you up at your lodging in Puerto Natales. Our transfer takes us to the Laguna Amarga area of Torres del Paine where we start our day hiking with excellent photo opportunities of guanacos, grey foxes, and pumas. After this relaxing hike, we will drive to the trailhead for the base of the towers. The trail will follow the Ascencio River valley uphill, for 3.5 hours before we set up camp at the Torres campsite. Before dark, we’ll ascend a huge terminal moraine for one hour, to a look out at the three famous granite towers. We will descend the same path back to base camp.
2 hour private transfer
Length of hike: 8-10 hours, 17km
Meals: Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Torres Camp
Day 2 - Cerro Torres:
Our day begins very early and, weather permitting, we’ll enjoy an impressive view of the towers painted with red light. We start our walk through a beech forest, following a climber’s trail to the Japanese camp. From here, we will go uphill to a terminal moraine, using the climber’s stones that mark the trail, to a viewpoint of the Escudo and Fortaleza walls in the distance. Finally, we will arrive at the end of the moraine to another great view of the northwest faces of the three towers surrounded by granite walls. We will go back on the same trail to our base camp and enjoy a hearty dinner.
Length of hike: 8-9 hours, 12-14km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Torres Camp
Day3 - Cerro Torres to Cerro Bader:
Today we will be moving to a different valley. We will walk back down the trail before turning off to the right, to hike in front of the Admiral Nieto mountain. The trail brings us alongside Nordernskjold lake where we climb a steep path to the entrance of Bader Valley, away from almost all the other trekkers on the trail. Here, at a climber’s camp, we will set up the tents for the next couple of nights.
Length of hike: 7 hours, 12km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Bader Camp
Day 4 - Bader Valley:
The hike in Bader Valley is around 6-7 hours. You will have the rest of the day to explore the valley with your guide and enjoy the silence and remoteness of the valley. The night will again be spent in the climber’s camp, with stars twinkling above and the breeze floating through the trees.
Length of hike: 6-7 hours, 10km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Bader Camp
Day 5 - Cerro Bader to Cerro Británico:
After a filling breakfast, we break camp and descend to the main trail of the W trek, heading to the entrance of the French Valley. The trail throughout this section is more relaxed than our previous hikes. We will hike to the end of the French Valley and set up our tents at Britanico Camp. Throughout the valley we’ll enjoy a variety of habitats and landscapes: forest, moraine, rivers and views of dramatic hanging glaciers.
Length of hike: 7-8 hours, 15km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Britanico Camp
Day 6 - Cerro Británico:
This is an optional day of walking to explore one of the biggest granite wall amphitheaters in the valley. Otherwise it’s a day of rest in this remote camp, reflecting on life and reconnecting with oneself while surrounded by natural beauty. And possibly allowing the boots to air out.
Length of hike: 6 hours, 10km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Britanico Camp
Day 7 - Cerro Británico to Cerro Grey:
We will cover a lot of distance throughout the day, with a variety of terrain: moraine, deep forests, river crossings and grassy meadows. We leave the French Valley and walk around Paine Grande mountain to reach the Grey glacier area.
Length of hike: 9 hours, 26km
Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
Accommodation: Camping at Grey Camp
Day 8 - Cerro Grey to Puerto Natales:
Today is the last day of our adventure and we do not want you to leave the park without a final surprise! Weather permitting, we will take the Grey III boat and navigate in front of Glacier Grey. After an hour in front of the glacier faces and a one hour ride down the lake, we walk across the Grey beach to begin our final hike. Mirador Ferrier is a very steep trail to a viewpoint overlooking the majority of the park. We will be able to see the mountains we have explored, the glacier we passed in front of, and the pampas we will be passing through. Once we arrive back at the trailhead, our transfer will take us back to Puerto Natales.
