Trelew

Found in the Chubut Province on the eastern coast of Argentinian Patagonia, Trelew is one of the Welsh cities in Argentina and has a large and recently refurbished airport servicing the region, with flights to Buenos Aires taking just under 2 hours. Trelew itself is a large industrial city processing wool and was founded in 1886 by Welsh settlers who also established many other towns and cities in the area such as Esquel, Gaiman and Rawson.

There are some wonderful spots to visit not far from Trelew including the Peninsula Valdes, a wildlife haven for whales, penguins and seals, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. In order to reach Puerto Piramides, the only small town within the Peninsula, it's best to take the bus to Puerto Madryn (45 minutes) and from there to Puerto Piramides (30 minutes).
