Lago Nahuel Huapi (Tristeza branch)

The Lago Nahuel Huapi is 6.3 miles wide and gives its name to the nearby national park. One of its branches, named 'Sadness branch' or Brazo Tristeza, is surrounded by towering, snow-capped mountains, lush forests and lakes as far as the eye can see.

Nearby is the ever growing town of Bariloche, a sort of alpine-style place, famous for its chocolate making. It is here that many great kayaking itineraries start out and take you down to Tristeza branch via private transfer.

If you're coming to this part of the Argentinian Patagonia Lake District, kayaking in the quiet waters of the Nahuel Huapi branch is definitely not to be missed, as well as hiking and mountain biking in the nearby hills and visiting the luxury ski resort of Cerro Catedral.
