Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Reception at Punta Arenas

On the day prior to the flight you will check into your hotel and receive a welcome folder with detailed information regarding the programme. You will then receive a full briefing from your local guide around 17:30.

Accommodation: Cabo de Hornos Hotel, Punta Arenas


Day 2: Fly to King George Island

Transfer from hotel to Punta Arenas Airport to board the plane with destination to King George Island (Antarctica). At your arrival, you will be welcomed by an Antarctica-expert tour guide, who will take you on a tour visiting Villa Las Estrellas (first settlement inhabited by civilians. You will visit the Drake Passage area, where you will observe a colony of different seals along the beach and have lunch or a snack depending on the time of arrival. You will take a navigation on a zodiac boat to Ardley Island to visit some penguin colonies and a navigation to Collins Glacier. You will then be taken on a caterpillar truck to the Ice Camp based on Collins Glacier, located about 10 km (6 miles) from the runway.

If you are taking the day trip only, you will fly back to Punta Arenas at the end of the day.

Day 3: Visit Collins Glacier 

Board a 30 minute Zodiac navigation on Drake Passage to Nelson Island, where you will visit different areas to see some of older shelters from the end of the 1800's. You will also visit Elephant Seals and penguin colonies, get up close to glaciers and enjoy panoramic views of the Drake Passage.

During the afternoon you will visit Bellingshausen Dome located at 5 kilometers from the main landing area en route to the Uruguayan Station. Return late in the afternoon for dinner and rest at the ice camp.

If on the overnight programme, you will return to Punta Arenas at the end of the day.

Day 4: Visit the Chinese Great Wall Station

In the morning you will walk to the "Elefanteras" (sea elephant colony) located in the Drake Passage Area and visit the Chinese Great Wall Station. It is also possible to visit other tourist attractions, depending on the weather conditions, before returning to Punta Arenas.

IMPORTANT: The programme is subject to weather conditions and may change. 4 nights are included in Punta Arenas to provide the largest possible weather window for visiting Antarctica.

Prices, Departures and Inclusions

This trip can run as a group trip, with prices starting from $6,500 per person for a complete group. If you are looking to join a group or you are a solo traveller we will help to form likeminded groups of travellers. Please let us know your travel plans.

The trip can also run on a private basis to fit around your plans. Departures may be tailored and can be set up on a date of your choice. Please note that there is a higher price for smaller groups. Please enquire for further details.

Minimum and maximum 6 passengers per flight on a King Air 300 plane.
