Getting to see the three towers - just! - within the clouds on the third day. The walk was brilliant, nice and steady, we walked in the sun, rain and some snow. The guide was encouraging and made everyone feel included and valued. Seeing an armadillo at the camp site was also a highlight for me.

We got a Chilean guide and got to know her, the ecosystem, and the people of Chile. The views and land of Patagonia are beautiful and breathtaking. My partner and I got to know each other better and were laughing every day. We woke up to gusting winds inside a tent.

1. Highlight of Patagonia was the Tierra Patagonia and the excursions. 2.You will see the landscape and the wildlife in our photos, sent separately. 3.People were all friendly and helpful. 4. Look at our photos. 5. On the Stella Australis we were hit by a 205 MPH wind gust near Cape Horn. All the furniture was thrown around, people were injured, food (eggs, melons, etc.) was destroyed, and the dining room place sessions for the next morning were destroyed. Yet, NO announcement was made during or after the storm. We were then unable to dock at Cape Horn. My conclusion is that the captain did not want to have any record that this occurred. 6. Landscape was magnificent, meet some wonderful people that were on our trek and also in El Chalten. Was a bit surprised that there were so many people on some of the hikes we did, it got a bit crowded at times. Most magical moment was probably driving from El Calafate and seeing the Fitz Roy Peaks the first time

Trekking in Torres del Paine in Chile. I was impressed by the beauty of this national park, by our local guide Tomas who genuinely loves his job and by our tour leader Daniele who did everything to make our holidays interesting, enjoyable and stressless.

The trip was really nice. The guide was friendly and knowledgble, the experience authentic as we stayed in ‘refugios’ that are still being used today, and the scenery was stunning (on the days it didn’t rain ;) ). The food was good, and we felt very welcome at the estancia. What bothered me was the extreme caution for safety, and the fact that we could only walk on the rides (as I’m an experienced rider it would be nice to do some faster riding now and then and thus also see more of the park and warm up a little bit). On the trip, there’s also to do a boat trip on the 4th day, this wasn’t mentioned to me beforehand.

The trip was extremely very well pieced together by Swoop and then by Chile Nativo. The people I met were incredibly beautiful and helpful. I unfortunately twisted my knee very badly on Day one of the trek up at the Towers and I literally staggered down the mountain back to Las Torres Refugio. The next day I bought trekking poles and ended up soing the entire trek on one leg using the poles as crutches. On day two there was a young Chilean girl who was also trekking alone and she insisted on accompanying me for eight hours all the way to Cuernos. I am home mow and we chat eveyday like sisters - I cannot say ENOUGH good about the Chilean people.

The highlight of the trip was arising to the wonder of a firey early morning sunrise on the day we were trekking to the Three Towers of Torres del Paine National Park. The mountains were lit in shades of red, pink, hints of blue–setting the stage for the most perfect conditions to hike. We were bathed in sunshine and experienced very little of the infamous Patagonian winds. What a day!
