Overall, how was your trip?

Highlights: Hiking to the blue towers in Torres del Paine and hiking to base of Fitz Roy in El Chalten. Landscapes in Torres del Paine (Cordillero, lakes, glaciers) were stunning. no wildlife to speak of on the W Trek. The Trek afforded us the ability to meet like minded trekkers, willing to get up early and challenge themselves on steep trails through wind, rain, sun , all for the the love of the outdoors. Most magical moment was kayaking 21km on the Rio del las Vueltas, with crystal blue skies, views and reflections on Fitz Roy, Cerr Torre on the river! Booked when we arrived in El Chalten, not through Swoop.

In one sentence, what did you think of Patagonia? Did it live up to your expectations?

As Hikers, we loved the mountains, the wind and glaciers of Patagonia.

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

Although we were in Patagonia for 30 days, the only service that Swoop provided was to book cruises for us at the end of the trip. Booking the Australis from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia was straight forward, although I could have easily booked it myself, Swoop provided no value added. ISwoop also booked an Antarctica cruise for my husband, which he may not have been able to secure himself since it was a cancellation. Never used Swoops 24 hour support. Early on in the planning process I attempted to book our W Trek through Swoop, but Swoop was unable to answer my detailed questions about the Trek (i.e. which refugios we would be booked in, miles per day). Swoop did refer me to their local provider for the W Trek, who took over 7 days to get back to me and then could not be very specific about the trek details. After doing the trek I came to the conclusion that the local W Trek tour operators must book blocks of rooms at the refugios early in the season and then fit trekkers into various refugios/ campgrounds as they book, so may not be able to commit to where they book you to sleep until after you commit. Probably the issue that put me off the most about Swoops W-Trek package was that sheets were not included in the advertised price and they were a significant price add on. Maybe Swoops W Trek package is designed for campers, which we were not. Swoop did not design an itinerary for us.
