Tell us about Torres del Paine

Definitely not to miss. We didn't realize it had so much infrastructure - in future, we would love to stay in the park and do the full W trek!

Tell us about El Calafate & El Chalten

The vibe in El Chalten cannot be beat! We loved the little town and its picturesque setting. The main hike here, to the base of Fitz Roy, is beautiful and challenging but comparable to the Mirador Las Torres in Torres Del Paine. We are glad we had El Chalten as part of our trip.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

If you are not planning to stop to spend time in both Santiago and Buenos Aires, I would recommend booking a round trip ticket to and from just one of those cities and planning the trip around that instead of booking multi-city tickets. We felt that flying in to Santiago then to Punta Arenas, then driving five hours to Torres Del Paine took up more time than warranted for three days in the park. Just our opinion! Preparation is key! Hiking shoes and proper gear for all types of weather are imperative. We did not pack a single item of clothing or gear that did not come in handy!

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Going to Patagonia has intensified our love for nature and the outdoors and given us an understanding of native cultures and peoples that have been lost over time. We also greatly respect the efforts made by Chile and Argentina to preserve these natural treasures.

Do you have any recommendations or feedback for the Swoop team?

I think the Swoop team was fantastic! We usually shy away from outsourcing bookings/itinerary development but the shortage of planning time on our end made us rely on Swoop and we were very pleased. They picked perfect hotels for us and gave us great information.
