Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Iguazú; Tour of Iguazú Falls (Brazilian side)

You'll fly into Puerto Iguazú Airport in Argentina before midday where you'll be met by your guide who will take you to the Brazilian side of the falls for an afternoon tour. Depending on flight times you may, or may not, have time to stop off at your hotel en route to check in and leave your belongings. Note that you will need your passport for the border crossing.

Once in Brazil, it's a short drive to the park entrance. Here you can grab a quick snack and then board the national park bus (obligatory) to arrive at the viewing platforms.

The first viewpoint will take your breath away and make you realise why these have been described by many as the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. Eleanor Roosevelt is rumoured to have sighed, 'my poor Niagara' upon seeing this view. The walkway is approximately three miles long with a few steps to appreciate the different platforms and angles. As you approach the grand finale, the Devil's Throat gorge, the walkways head into the mist of the falls.

Your next destination is the Parque des Aves (Bird Park) where you can walk through large forested aviaries to spot birds such as macaws, toucans and hummingbirds in their natural habitat.

You'll then take a transfer back to your hotel in Argentina.

Excursion: Half-day excursion with bilingual guide

Accommodation: Grand Melia Iguazú (or equivaent) or Loi Suites Iguazú (or equivalent) - both in Argentina

Day 2: Full-day tour of Iguazú Falls (Argentinian side)

Set out early to beat the crowds and get one of the first small-gauge trains of the day in the national park to the Devil's Throat. There are three main walkways in the Argentinian park, leading you over islands to different balconies over the Iguazú Falls. These total about 6km. It will likely be hot so be prepared, but fortunately the refreshing spray of the waterfalls is never far away.

You will then have time to walk the upper and lower circuits, giving you different perspectives and stunning panoramic views. There are between 200 and 300 different cascades which make up the Iguazú Falls, depending on the amount of water flowing over them at any given moment.

An optional addition to the day's tour is the Great Adventure Boat Ride – an exciting truck ride of 8km through the jungle, after which you board the speedy motorboats which take you up through the Lower Iguazú rapids to the heart of the falls. Prepare to get very, very wet!
