Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca Volcano

Set out on your Chilean adventure first thing, taking a transfer from Puerto Varas to Antillanca at 09:00 in the morning.

Once here, your first climb will lead you into to Puyehue National Park, to summit the northwest face of the extinct Casa Blanca Volcano. In winter and spring, you'll ascend in snowfields, while in summer, the route follows volcanic scree.

The ascent of 1,990m (6,500 feet) takes 3–6 hours, depending on the speed at which the group decides to walk and how often you stop to break and take in the viewpoints.

At 18:00, you will be collected from where you started and transferred to Refugio Teski, a journey of around 2.5 hours. You'll spend a special evening in mountain huts located beside the Osorno Volcano, with a hearty dinner waiting for you. Sunset is usually around 11pm during the summer months, meaning that there will still be enough daylight for you to admire the Patagonian steppe with its guanacos and snow-peaked mountain horizon once you arrive.

Meals: Picnic lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Refugio Teski

Day 2: Calbuco Volcano

Rise early to begin today's climb to Calbuco Volcano, leaving Refugio Teski at 06:00 to drive 30 minutes to the trailhead.

You'll get familiar with the less explored side of the Llanquihue National Reserve. Follow the route which starts in a private reserve at 500m altitude and takes you down a wooded trail to the treeline, exposing evergreen forests and presenting incredible panoramas of the Pacific Ocean and Lake District far below.

Hiking for around 6–8 hours total, you'll complete the summit at 2,015m (6,610 feet), marvelling at the incredible views of the Lake Llanquihue area and its distinctly alpine character.

Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner

Accommodation: Refugio Teski

Day 3: Rest day, the "Paso de la Desolación" trek, or rafting

Your third day is open for you to spend at leisure if you're ready for a rest at this point, appreciating the surroundings from the refugio. Alternatively, if you're after more adventure, you can book onto a rafting excursion on the Petrohué River or hike the "Paso de la Desolación" in the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner

Accommodation: Refugio Teski

Day 4: Osorno Volcano

The highest of the volcanoes, complete the finale of the trip with the Osorno summit.

You'll start trekking at 5am to summit in good time, climbing for 6–8 hours to reach the 2,652m (8,700 feet) ascent.  The climb is not just physically demanding, but it also requires us to use glacier travel techniques. At the top, soak up the breathtaking views looking out over the entire expanse of Southern Chile – a viewpoint which has been claimed as Southern Chile's most impressive.

Upon descent and arrival back at the refugio a farewell celebratory lunch will take place, before your transfer to Puerto Varas at 17:00 (1 hour journey).

Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch
