Getting to and from your trip

Your trip starts and finishes in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas. From here in a 4x4 vehicle and taken via dirt roads to Barraco Lodge (approx 3hrs).

To/from Puerto Montt

There are regular flights between Puerto Montt's Tepual Airport (PMC) and Santiago (SCL, 10/day, 1hr45mins), Punta Arenas (PUQ, 2hrs) and Coyhaique (GXQ, 1hr).

Road options include public buses between Puerto Montt and Pucón, San Carlos de Bariloche and Punta Arenas.

There is also a ferry between Puerto Montt and Puerto Natales which takes four days.

To/from Puerto Varas

The main entry point to Puerto Varas is Puerto Montt’s airport, which is just 22km south of the town.

Most long-distance transport from Puerto Varas passes through (or starts in) Puerto Montt, half an hour away. Long-distance buses take 12 hours to get to Santiago.

Your Accommodation

Barraco Lodge is a unique and secluded refuge—set in 150 acres of pristine rainforest—overlooking glistening turquoise lakes and dramatic valleys. Ideally located for exploring the wild rivers, hidden waterfalls, forests and mountains of the Tagua Tagua National Park.

Rooms - Barraco has three separate guest houses, all with private rooms, en-suite bathrooms, and stunning views. 

Food - The team are committed to sourcing fresh, local, organic ingredients from sustainable sources. They have their own organic garden on site. You'll enjoy numerous Patagonian specialities including lamb, king crab, seafood and vegetarian/ vegan alternatives, for example, using the delicious native wild mushrooms (Morchelas) from the Puelo Valley.
