Day 2: El Calafate - Full Day at Perito Moreno Glacier

At the appropriate time you will leave on a full day excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciers National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981 and home to one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in Argentina, Perito Moreno Glacier is a site to behold.

Lasting about an hour, a bilingual guide will provide you with all the information you might want to know as well as things you might have never thought about. On arrival you'll have the chance to enjoy stunning views of the glacier from the nearby walking trail and viewing platforms. An included Perito Moreno Glacier boat cruise will take you close enough to fully appreciate the 80m high ice walls!

In the early evening, you will return to your hotel in Calafate.

Length of trek: 6 hours

Accommodation: Cyan Calafate

Note: For even more adventure, you may want to consider taking either the “Big Ice” or “Mini-Trekking” excursion (at an extra cost). Both allow you to hike on the glacier!! Ask Say Hueque’s travel advisor for more information, but be sure to let us know in advance because it is highly requested.

Day 3: El Calafate

Have a day at leisure to enjoy any of the optional tours around El Calafate.

We suggest a visit to Estancia Cristina, a bike ride out to the lake, or a boat cruise to explore some of the more remote glaciers in the region. You can reserve your activity in advance (the best tours are highly demanded).

Accommodation: Cyan Calafate

Day 4: From El Calafate to El Chalten

You'll depart from El Calafate and travel to El Chalten via a comfortable public bus ride. For about three hours you will be able to enjoy the desert of Southern Patagonia on the famous Route 40. You will pass through La Leona River, that connects Lake Argentino and Lake Viedma. By the river you will see La Leona Road House where once Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid after hid after robbing a bank for almost a month.

El Chalten is the top rated trekking destination, the Argentinean capital of trekking. Located at the foot of the Fitz Roy Mountain, surrounded by glaciers, lakes, rivers and forest, it is still a hidden gem of our south. The charming little village, that is also the start point for most paths, is a paradise for walkers and trekkers alike. On arrival you will go for a stroll with your group to warm up for the next day!

Accommodation: Pudu Lodge

Day 5: El Chalten - Mountains and Lakes – Guide trek to Laguna de Los Tres

Today you will head for a guided full day trekking to the breathtaking Laguna de los Tres, at the base of Fitz Roy Mountain. It’s a 8 hours trekking that will covers 22 km and it worth every effort.

Accommodation: Pudu Lodge

Day 6: From El Chalten back to El Calafate

Day at leisure in El Chalten.

Some of the options are; river rafting in Rio de las Vueltas, Lago del Desierto bike tour, a visit to the petrified forest La Leona, or even you can go back to the mountains and enjoy a full day hike to Cerro Torre or a short and easy walk to Chorrillo del Salto. However keep in mind that in the afternoon you will board your bus back to El Calafate. The three hours driving back will be a good opportunity to rest up and enjoy the views from your window.

Accommodation: Cyan Calafate

Day 7: El Calafate - Full Day Torres del Paine / Torres Del Paine

In the early morning you will be picked up for a full day excursion to Torres del Paine National Park. Along the road you might be able to see rheas, guanacos, Patagonian hare, and even condors. After crossing the Patagonian steppe from North to South, you will arrive at the border post “Cancha Carrera” after a 2.5 hour trip. There, you will start to travel through the beautiful South Chile until you arrive at the “Torres del Paine” National Park (meaning “Blue Towers” in the Tehuelche language, due to the predominant colour). It is important to remember that today you are crossing the border into Chile.

Please make sure you have your passport. Keep an eye out for wild guanacos as they roam the windy plains. It is a long day, but we believe it's worth every hour. Some of the wonders of this world renowned park you will visit will be Salto Grande, Laguna Amarga, Lago Pehoe, the Cuernos del Paine and of course, the famous Torres del Paine.

In the evening you’ll be dropped off at your hotel to stay the night inside the park. Important! It is not allowed to take any fresh food, plants, seeds, etc. from Argentina to Chile. They are very strict, and fines can be high. If you are not sure if something is allowed or not, please declare it (they will provide you with a form) and they will inform you if you can carry it or not.

Accommodation: Torres del Paine Central Shelter

Day 8: Torres Del Paine / Puerto Natales

Today you will enjoy the most important excursion for nature lovers and trekkers. The first hour and a half walking is steep, you will enjoy fantastic views of lake Nordenskjold and Almirante Nieto Mn (2.670 m.s.n.m), until you reach Refugio El Chileno. You will continue the trail through a millenary Lenga forest (1 hour) until “the moraine” base, and there a challenging ascent (45 min) will take you to one of the most impressive viewpoints in the park: “Base of Torres del Paine”. From this point you can enjoy amazing views: Torre Sur (2,850 m.s.n.m.), Torre Central (2.800 m.s.n.m), Torre Norte (2.600 m.s.n.m) and Cerro Nido de Condor.

At the end of the day you will head back to Puerto Natales by bus.
