Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Cerro Negro, Laguna Negra

You start in Bariloche at the hotel, from there you drive to a small village called Colonia Suiza (Swiss colony). There, start trekking following the Goye stream into the valley. You gradually advance upwards for about 3 hours. Then you'll see Cerro Negro at the end of the valley, the last ascent is a little bit steeper until you get to mountain hut Italia Manfredo Segre by the Laguna Negra lagoon shore. You stay the night at the mountain hut.

Day 2: CAB Lagoon

After a tasty breakfast, start towards CAB lagoon. You go around Negra Lagoon, then continue upwards to the Negro mountain ridge and Bailey Willis mountain. From there you get a great view with Mount Tronador in the background and Tristeza lake branch (Nahuel Huapi lake) right in front of you, you see the CAB lagoon. You have a steep descent and then another ascent which is also quite steep. Then, go wading the Lluvuco stream until you reach CAB lagoon. There we set our tents for the night.

Day 3: Azul Lagoon

After breakfast from the lagoon, head to the southwest, to the left side of CAB mountain and descend to Mate dulce valley, outskirting the Cristal mountain to Creton lagoon and Azul lagoon (a deep blue lagoon, very intense blue colour). Tent lodging at Creton lagoon, with no campsite facilities.

Day 4: Cerro Punta Negra

After a short ascent you will hike along another lagoon, Jujuy lagoon. From there, continue hiking upwards to a mountain ridge that joins Cerro Capitan and Cerro Punta Negra (approx. 1900 m. above sea level). Descend through a rocky terrain and then head upwards for some meters until you get to Illon lagoon. This small Andean lagoon has a beautiful sandy beach and great view to Mount Tronador. Tent lodging in the nearby meadow.

Day 5: San Carlos de Bariloche 

Enjoy this beautiful place with the great view to Mount Tronador. There is then the option to visit Mirada del Doctor, a panoramic view which is one hour's walk from the lagoon, before descending to Pampa Linda. This is your arrival point where the vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to San Carlos de Bariloche city.
