Enjoy a unique glamping experience in a small, eco-friendly camp at El Chaltén. Stay in a cosy, secluded dome with views of the Fitz Roy range and enjoy hearty evening meals in the main dome with your fellow travellers. This small camp is set well away from the crowds so you can be guaranteed a peaceful and relaxing stay.
Chaltén Camp is located a couple of miles from El Chaltén and as such is a haven of peace and tranquillity. It's ideal for those who seek calm and quiet while still relaxing in comfort at the end of each day.
From the closest airport at El Calafate, it's a 3¼-hr drive to Chaltén Camp.
The camp is located just two miles from the small town of El Chaltén, yet feels way more remote than this would suggest. It's set in a native forest, well away from the crowds, nestled between the Las Vueltas River and a huge granite wall.
It's the only property in El Chaltén to offer uniterrupted views of the magnificent Fitz Roy and there's really nothing else like it in town - it's a great option for those wanting to replicate the Torres del Paine glamping experience.
You can reach the camp by private transfer, or your own vehicle.
View from Chalten Camp
Chaltén Camp don't run their own excursions, but we can easily combine a stay here with our most popular trips:
• Highlights of Los Glaciares
• Best of Los Glaciares
Alternatively, you can choose your own tailor-made day-excursions such as fly-fishing, kayaking, rock-climbing and a variety of day hikes.
These trips incur an extra cost and are not included in the accommodation price.
Excursion from Chalten Camp
Breakfast and evening meals are served at antique tables in the 80m² main dome. This is a great place to relax and unwind, meet other travellers and enjoy stunning views of the mountains.
There are 110/220 volt sockets here to charge your devices and also a water dispenser to refill your water bottles.
Box lunches are provided every day and for dinner there is a set three course menu based on traditional Argentine recipes which changes daily and caters to those with dietary restrictions.
Near the to main dome is a fire pit which provides a great place to sit, enjoy a drink and gaze at the clear southern sky. There are also several picnic tables dotted around the camp where you can enoy a picnic lunch.

Accommodation at Chalten Camp
Chaltén Camp is open from mid-October until mid-April.
There are eight premium domes (six doubles and two triples) with views of Fitz Roy and four deluxe domes (three doubles and one triple) with forest views. All domes balance comfort with a low environmental impact and are built on raised structures in the native forest.
The vibe here is fancy - it's essentially a hotel in 'tents' with great beds. Each dome is 27m², and includes a private bathroom, wood-burning stove, queen-size bed or two twin beds, plenty of blankets, charging for USB devices and a safety deposit box.
The triple domes can have three single beds or one single and one queen-size bed.
The stoves in the domes are taken care of only by the staff who will light them at sunset. There
are plenty of other thoughtful touches like a hot water bottle, thermos of
tea and brownies and even Chaltén Camp labelled products.
WiFi and a 110v/220v electricity supply is available in the main dome only.
El Chaltén was incredible. The domes were great. Read the full review
