Day 2: Perito Moreno Excursion
Early in the morning you will make an excursion today to one of the most famous geological sights in the world, the Perito Moreno glacier, at the far end of the lake, 75 km from El Calafate. It is also protected by the World Biosphere Reserve from the United Nations Education and Culture (UNESCO). Perito Moreno is one of the few glaciers that are stable, with seasonal fluctuations in the position of its face. It calves into Lake Argentino and sometimes the terminus creates a natural damn and part of the lake becomes landlocked. The water level rises until it suddenly breaks the ice damn and bursts. Every so often it is possible to see huge lumps of ice break off and fall into the lake to float away as icebergs. You will return late afternoon to your hotel and the rest is at leisure. Lunch box not included as there is a cafe here. B, Hotel in el Calafate

Day 3: El Calafate to El Chalten- Viedma ice trek- Eco camp
Passengers will make their own way to the office in El Calafate at 6.50 in the morning and will be taken to El Chalten and do the Viedma Ice trek. Here starts the boat tour on Viedma Lake. After sailing for a while on the lake, we will arrive to Viedma Glacier, the beginning of a wonderful experience of trekking on ice on a virgin glacier where only one group of people per day arrives. Viedma Glacier is the largest glacier in Argentina and the second one in South America. The dark lines on the surface are produced by volcanic ashes mixed with the ice. This Glacier is receding like most of the others. It is very interesting to see the recently exposed rock, which was under the ice only a few years ago.

Our guide will lead the group for about two hours on the ice. During this unique experience, we will be taught and shown many glacier features, like crevasses and moulins. In the afternoon we will sail back to Bahia Tunel and return by land to El Chaltén and we will go to Eco camp to spend the night and enjoy a wonderful dinner. Day 5: Trek to thorwood camp and Laguna de los Tres
After breakfast we will enjoy a fun and active trek After about 20 minutes of ascent we arrive at the Valley of the Vueltas River viewpoint, a perfect example of the “U” shape valley carved by the glaciations in Patagonia. After some more gentle climbing we arrive at the viewpoint of the Fitz Roy massif where we can appreciate in all their splendor the peaks of the S, Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz and Guillaumet. We continue for 2 hours on the flat, walking through beautiful lenga forests inhabited by countless varieties of birds that will accompany us with their song until we reach the campground Río Blanco. This is the base camp for the most adventurous climbers who will attempt to conquer these granite masses. We then climb 400m in about an hour until we arrive at Laguna de los Tres. On arriving at the highest point on the path, we are rewarded by the majestic views of Fitz Roy, the glacier de los Tres and its lagoon. The grandeur of this location makes you feel very insignificant. From here we circle Laguna de los Tres and head towards the viewpoint of the Laguna Sucia and its glacier. Night in Thorwood camp. B, BL, D, Thorwood camp, guide
