Trip Details

Days 1-2: Ushuaia

Start this epic adventure at the world's southernmost town. Wander the streets of Ushuaia, which is set between the Beagle Channel and looming glacial peaks, or perhaps head out on a day trip to the nearby penguin colonies.

Day 3: Strait of Magellan

Enter the wilds of Tierra del Fuego. Spot seals, sea lions and penguins playing in the freezing waters and pitch a tent among the windswept plains.

Days 4-7: Torres del Paine National Park

Spend four days exploring this rugged expanse, punctuated by huge granite cliffs piercing barren plains, home to rare guanacos (the llama's wild Andean cousin) and flightless rhea birds.

Days 8-9: El Calafate/ Moreno Glacier

The breathtaking blue expanse of the Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the world's most accessible ice fields. Listen to the moan of the advancing ice and watch as huge chunks break off and collapse into the freezing Iceberg Channel below.

Days 10-12: El Chalten/ Los Glaciares National Park

Explore the stunningly rugged mountains while trekking over glaciers, taking in views of the Fitz Roy mountains or horse riding around the icy Viedma Lake.

Days 13-17: Chilean Fjord Coast

Vast creaking blue glaciers, towering mountains and glassy lakes dominate the horizon on the journey along the Chilean Fjord Coast. Camp in the Patagonian wilds amid the rugged beauty and isolation of one of the world's final frontiers.

Day 18: Chaiten

Hugged by rugged mountains, this humble fishing village is punctuated by the smouldering peaks of the Corcovado and Michinmahuida volcanoes.

Day 19: Puerto Montt

Pitch a tent close to the port city of Puerto Montt in the midst of the Chilean Lake District.

Days 20-21: Pucon

Discover the wealth of adventure activities on offer in this volcanic town. Hit the slopes of Villerica for hiking and horse riding or relax in the thermal springs that bubble in pools around the town.

Day 22: Saltos del Laja

Travel down the spine of the Andes, passing rich agricultural areas and vast sweeping vineyards. This is the heart of Chilean wine country, so try a few of the famed vintages on the journey north.

Day 23: Santiago

Discover the cosmopolitan streets of Chile's capital and perhaps get a lesson in indigenous culture and traditions in the Chilean pre-Columbian Art Museum.
