Trip Summary and Itinerary Map
- Visit historic estancia
- Sail to Martillo Island
- Spend an hour with a penguin colony
- Tour a local museum
In our modern and comfortable minibuses, we set off at 8am from the world's southernmost port on an unforgettable adventure on Martillo Island.
Along the way you will enjoy beautiful and colourful landscapes typical of the region along the Ruta 3 from Ushuaia to the legendary Estancia Harberton. This estancia was the first on the island of Tierra del Fuego, founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges and located 55 miles from Ushuaia in the Beagle Channel.
From the estancia we board a small boat and cross to Martillo Island via the Beagle Channel which takes about 15 minutes. This is a unique adventure and we will spend an hour walking amongst Magellanic and Gentoo penguins.
On our return we will have a look around the museum at the estancia which documents all the marine life in the region and then enjoy a drink.
The entire trip takes about 6 hours and we return to Ushuaia at 2:30pm.
