Operator's Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Villa Cerro Castillo

Arrive at Balmaceda airport where you will be met for your private transfer to Villa Cerro Castillo. You'll drive through the mountain range for approximately 100 km until you reach the quaint bed and breakfast, which is located just outside the town of Cerro Castillo.

Relax for the evening with fantastic views of the mountain and enjoy a home cooked meal before turning into bed to begin your pack trip the following morning.

Day 2: Ride to Laguna Cerro Castillo

Leaving the bed and breakfast with your guides, head out on a fantastic first day exploring the region, visiting the Cerro Castillo National Reserve. Here, you can revel at the mountain and its glacier lake up close. You'll both hike and horse ride, enjoying privileged views of the surrounding valley, glaciers and mountains.

Length of hike/ride: 7 hours total

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 3: Explore the Estancia La Maroma

After a full breakfast, you'll spend your second day riding to Puerto Ibanez where you will come across the Estancia La Maroma. Here, you can enjoy roaming through the vast grazing lands of nearby land owners, riding freely for approximately 4–5 hours.

Day 4: Venture further into the area surrounding Estancia La Maroma

Today you'll have the whole day to explore even more of the region around the Estancia La Maroma. Ride high up into the mountains that border Argentina, where the guanacos migrate to enjoy summer grasslands. You'll have the opportunity to visit distinctive geological rock formations, trot alongside condors, and see numerous other highlights and amazing views of Lake General Carrera.

How the day will evolve will be dependent on the weather, which may prompt some changes to the itinerary.

Day 5: Another day of riding

Enjoy another day of riding, heading in the direction of the lodge as you make your return. Upon arriving, you can look forward to a cosy fire in the main room and a delicious Patagonian asado for the last night together.

Day 6: Transfer to Balmaceda for departure

Say goodbye to your hosts and travel back to Balmaceda airport, for your departure or onwards flight.

The price of CLP $730,000 per person is indicative of a group of 2-3 people. For 4-5 people the price is CLP $690,000 per person and for 6-8 people it is CLP $620,000 per person. 

Departures can be set up on a date of your choice, for a minimum of 2 people.
