Discover MoreEver wondered what it’s really like to track wild pumas in Patagonia, and why Torres del Paine has become one of the best places on Earth to see them?
Our exclusive, free guide takes you deep into the rugged landscapes of Patagonia to reveal how these powerful cats live, hunt, and shape the ecosystem around them.
Whether you're a safari enthusiast, or dreaming of your next great wilderness escape, this guide reveals everything you need to know about this elusive apex predator, and how to put the puma at the heart of your next adventure.
We’d heard about Patagonia’s legendary puma hunter for a long time before we tracked him down. Every time a Swoop team member visited Torres del Paine, he seemed to be somewhere else – a man as elusive as his former prey.
When we were finally able to make contact, Swoop’s videographer Burnham headed to southern Patagonia to tell his story for the first time on camera – from a time of illegal puma trophies to his conservation work today.
Burham has shared his experiences about how he made the film, and what it’s like to spend time in the field with one of the world’s greatest puma trackers, on Swoop Patagonia’s blog.
We filmed The Puma Hunter at Estancia Cerro Guido. A combination of working ranch and luxury hotel, it sits in over 100,000 hectares of private land bordering the eastern edge of Torres del Paine National Park.
Estancia Cerro Guido is unique in the way it proudly honours the traditions of its century-old gaucho culture, while looking to the future through its pioneering environmental work, including the puma conservation project we filmed.
Guests here can enjoy both aspects of Estancia Cerro Guido's character, through activities from conservation safaris, horse riding and hiking, or just enjoying the authentic accommodation, food and endless Patagonian skies.
