Operator's Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive at Riverside Lodge, for an overnight stay with candle-lit dinner. Meet your guides, and review trip details. Overnight in cabaña. (T,D) Day 2 After a hearty breakfast, load bags and supplies on our horses, and head off to our outback Mountainside Lodge – your first leg on the old Cochamó Trail. Overnight at lodge. (B, L, T, D) Day 3 Enjoy a traditional breakfast, then ride onward, up to the El Arco reserve, and gaze up at millenary Alerces. Sleep under the stars, or in the traditional fogón. (B,L,T,D) Day 4 A challenging ride, with some hiking – gets you to the deep blue Lago Vidal. Overnight in tents at local homestead. (B, L, T, D) Day 5 Today, you will ride along the southwest shore of Lago Vidal, to the aptly named outpost of Torrentoso. If in good time, you can view the petroglyphs in the valley. Camp at homestead. (B, L, T, D) Day 6 Ride up to the Chilean frontier town of Paso el Leon, and spend your last evening with a local family – enjoying a traditional meal. Camp at homestead. (B, L, T, D) Day 7 After breakfast, a short ride or drive will get you to the border post – from where you can cross into Argentina, to catch a bus for your onward journey. (B, L)
