Tell us about Aysen

Spellbinding landscapes populated with the nicest people you have ever met. Ideal place to unwind, be up with the rooster, be outside until nightfall. Ideal for people eager to disconnect.

Tell us about the road trip

Much easier than anticipated. Yes there are gravel roads, yes oncoming traffic can be an issue and yes there are hitchhikers you need to appease while driving past them if you have your car is full or if you just want to have a romantic drive through the mountains, but nothing is better than stopping at every Mirador, every cascade and every hamlet you want to. If you want to pay for a car do it, especially if you have limited time at your disposal (2-3 weeks). Would be a shame to be missing out just because you happen to hitch a car that bypasses them.

Tell us about the kayaking

Our guide Nadja was very informative. She spoke a very neutral Spanish, so i could understand her immediately. Plus points. The kayak route itself was pleasant and it was in no doubt impressive to see the lake and the marble caves from up close but i hindsight we should have gone for a longer kayak tour, spanning half a day maybe. So this one is ideal for kayak debutants.

Tell us about the trekking

We did not book any trekking guides. The trekks we did we all very clearly marked. Some of them (volcan chaiten, cerro castillo) are quite challenging but also very rewarding. If you manage them, they will clearly be among the highlights of your trip

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Don‘t try and stay in contact with people at home at an hourly basis. Enjoy the nature, the culture and the people that are surrounding you every moment of the way

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Too early to tell. I came back with some resolutions concerning usage time of electronic devices.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Nothing comes to mind. Everything worked like a charm. Feedback was quick and to the point. Information was precise. Website and the Swoop itinerary are a really big help. Thanks again
