Tell us about EcoCamp

EcoCamp was wonderful. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and the exceptional food. Our rooms were comfortable, warm and inviting. I would highly recommend EcoCamp to others looking for a unique stay in the national park.

Tell us about Torres del Paine

Yes...it is stunning. Our trip has made me want to come back again in the future.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Expect to be without cell service for extended periods of time. We planned for this inconvenience by carrying a minGarmin inreach that has limited texting functionality. Distances are long so be prepared for the time in the vans.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

The trip definitely expanded my view of Chile and South America. It has certainly made me interested in coming back in the future.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

While we had an overall good time, I would not recommend the penguin excursion in the future and would be hesitant to recommend the winery. It was probably because it was off season and a Sunday but the excursion to see the penguins was underwhelming and we ended up not getting back to our hotel until 11 at night. We spend 13 hours in a van/transit for about 15 minutes of penguins and an hour lunch. The guides did not provide realistic expectations around timing so on our way back (next ferry in 15 minutes which was really 90 minutes) we were left having to use the side of the road for a bathroom break (after being told we would be stopping in 5 minutes but 20 minutes went by) and left with a gas station as our only dinner option. We ended up chancing on a restaurant but it wasn't ideal and I would not recommend this trip to anyone. Both teens were reduced to tears and the adults were only slightly holding it together as we were so tired of sitting in a van. The winery was lovely but the activities promised were not available and there wasn't much else to do. The only options they gave us were hiking and biking. We choose hiking but had been looking forward to horseback riding or the atv excursion. Further, they did not even offer up an activity for our second day and it was clear they only had 1 guide that day and he was leading the wine tours which we had done the previous day. The place was lovely but the teens were bored as the excursions over promised and underdelivered. The food was delicious and at least there was wifi.

Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?

Preparation was excellent but we should have reviewed all the time in transit better.
