It’s a good idea to revise the restaurant recommendations in El Calafate. We were told that many of the restaurants have undergone new management so the list no longer reflects the restaurant scene in the town. Also, we had a nerve-wracking experience on our transfer from Fritz Roy Explora to Torres del Paine due to the wind and roads being closed that day. The driver did a good job navigating the tough conditions, but he did not take the time to communicate with us about the situation. He did not speak English but I speak a little Spanish so I think we could have communicated if he would have had the patience. He was driving very quickly on the gravel roads and curves in the Torres del Paine Park. I’m assuming he had a good reason but it was unsafe and I was afraid of an accident.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I have a new respect for the weather and importance of having a guide in Patagonia (5 tourists died while we were visiting the park). I also learned how beautiful and untouched the Patagonia area is. Wow!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Already noted in relation to El Calafate. Also, drivers who aren’t afraid to try to speak English with non-Hispanic tourists would be helpful.
