Tell us about Explora
As expected, location, location, location. Staff were very nice. Guide (Tina) was terrific. Room was fine. Food was a B and often tried too hard. Staff in dining room were annoyingly forgetful, which resulted in having to remind them of food orders even if they hadn’t forgotten.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Extraordinary place, but hike to Las Torres was annoyingly overrun with people, which detracted from the experience. If we hadn’t started out at 7am, it would really have been unpleasant. The short hike to the view of the horns and the lake gave the best bang for the buck. With the exception of Las Torres, our guide took us to more off the beaten path hikes, which was great.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Confirms that internet and instagram having resulted in massive overcrowding, significantly taking away from the experience.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
There was a too long delay in confirming our travel from PN airport to the Explora, after the change in our arrival day. I was told we would hear back “in the morning “ but it wasn’t until late afternoon. Also, despite my having repeatedly advised that we were traveling with 2 other people who were in the same predicament, there was no coordination of our trips from PN airport to the hotel. This resulted in our each having to pay $400, which was unnecessary, since we were all together.
