What was your most memorable moment?

We visited Antarctica before Patagonia so it is hard to top than BUT Patagonia was fabulous in terms of scenery and the tours we did. I loved ALL of the tours.

Tell us about Hotel Rio Serrano

Wonderful hotel - my only concern was the menu got boring after a couple of days but very minor issue. The room was OK but clearly not their most expensive room and I think we all bumped our head on the ceiling at some stage!

Tell us about Torres del Paine

Beautiful - hikes were great as were the guides and scenery spectacular

Tell us about Santiago

Loved Santiago and we booked out won tour to Valparaiso which was a great day. The location of the hotel was great as there was a market in the street outside and many restaurants. I would say booking the hotel for the final night (our flight was a 1.20am) was a masterstroke! Great to have the room to shower and pack up to around 9.30pm.

Tell us about the Excursions

We had the same guide for 3 of our excursions and she was great. The tougher hike we did (Lake Toro view) was memorable as it was very slippery in two parts and about 80 km/hr winds at the top but it was great! Not for those with mobility issues or fear of heights)

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?

Do it! The excursions were amazing and I would single out the petrified forest tour in El Calafate - the guide was amazing, the hike wonderful on a moon like landscape and just a wonderful experience. We chose not to do any of the W trek but maybe we should have!

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

If you bring into the discussion our OVERALL experience (so include Antarctica and the Falklands and South Georgia) for me it just confirmed the fragility of the planet and the need to do whatever we can to look after it

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

We found Swoop to be reliable, responsive and the trip was very well organised. Maybe more (and accurate) information about the affidavit entering Chile could help (I was told by my partner it said there was a fee but there wasn't and there is a scam site I believe). I think making it clear don't do it until the day before you are crossing the border would help.

How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?

Patagonia is memorable and it was a privilege to be there. As you know my partners father dies while we were in Antarctica and the had to abort the trip and didn't get to Patagonia but her and others reaction to my (very amateurish) photos says a lot about the beauty and pristine environment in Patagonia.
