Tell us about EcoCamp
Room, guides, and food was overall excellent. Would highly recommend.
Tell us about Torres del Paine
Amazing scenery. We were lucky to see Paine Grande without clouds. Hiking pace was solid. We got some Patagonia weather on day 2, but days 1 and 3 were excellent.
Tell us about Buenos Aires
City tour was great, the highlight was Recoleta cemetery, don't miss! The Tango show was fun, and the Fogon Asado dinner experience is a must do, one of our best meals ever!!
Tell us about Santiago
City tour was great. I think 24 hours here was sufficient, and nice way to break the trip up on the way down.
Tell us about the Trekking
14 miles day one, 8 day two, and 14 day three. We trained some but not extensively and were able to do. Our guide set a quick pace. Would definitely bring rain pains, solid rain shell, and the trekking poles were very important. For sure get waterproof boots, some people did not have and they were sorry.
Tell us about the Excursions
All the guides were great. Jeremia in Buenos Aires was really knowledgeable and passionate!
Something Else?
We had a hick-up in our El Calafate to Buenos Aires flight where my son's baggage was held up in El Calafate since he had a phone charger / battery in his checked luggage. The agency went out of their way to send someone to the airport since we had already left to resolve the issue and get the bag. Super helpful. Also, make sure to download / setup What's App ahead of time for in country communication.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
We did not need to convert money anywhere, and especially in Agrentina they appreciate dollars since they have high inflation. I would recommend bringing lots of small bills, like ones and fives to tip for luggage, drivers, etc. since we did not want to take out local currency, but were always trying to change larger to smaller bills.
