Tell us about Tierra del Fuego
The four-wheel-drive tour was amazing. We loved Freddy, our driver and host, and it was a very special lunch and lake tour that He provided. I was OK with the crowded conditions in the car for the initial tour, which was six passengers in a driver, but again we had issues getting into the park because no confirmation number was provided by swoop Nick my wife mentioned it in her comments .
Tell us about Buenos Aires
I love the subway in Buenos Aires that we used it a lot. It would’ve been nicer if a station was a little closer to the hotel . We did find our own tours like the bicycle tour. The walking tour we had planned was a complete flop because the the tour guide never showed. We never heard what happened to them. We walked all around the city, and found many things on our own. The restaurants are OK and several of the restaurants recommended were actually pretty bad. We had one recommendation from friends , near our hotel, which is probably the best one we went to. It was a treat to have someone meet us at the airport and escort us to the hotel to get us started.
Tell us about the Horseriding
I would’ve love to go on a short horseback ride, but because of the length of the trips and the distance to get to the trails, it was very little time to ever ride a horse And hotel las Torres
Tell us about the Trekking
We loved all the guides on our trips at hotel us tours. They were very informative, and the walks were good. It was fun to do a little strenuous went up the French Valley.
Tell us about the Excursions
I think if I went back to Buenos Aires, I would avoid doing the El Tigre trip. It was an hour of shopping. Seems like the trip took all day because of the traffic in and out of the city. I think I could use the time where is wisely for a museum tour?
Tell us about Torres del Paine
I already commented about the guides and the hikes. We participated in for different events at the hotel. The first day we got there we couldn’t do much because of how long it took to get through the border crossing in Chile. I thought that was a little messy getting switched with drivers, and it was very unorganized for us. I think in the future is warn people to keep those tickets that are provided at the points of entry when they look at your passport, they sort of resemble shopping receipts, and they’re very important but we were not aware.
Tell us about Los Glaciares
After completing the glacier tour, we found that that we were really too old to be on that tour because we were both over 60 or 65. I didn’t understand that physically it wasn’t anything special walking tour. The glacier was good I’m glad we did that and just did not do all the hikes on the ramps.
Tell us about Hotel Las Torres
I’m writing a very lengthy review of the hotel on their questionnaire and mentioned I wasn’t really crazy about the same food every day for dinner with maybe one or two additional things added every night I thought the value of the island all inclusive. Was that great because we couldn’t use a spa and we couldn’t take advantage of the horseback riding and we only ate lunch there once. You know all the hotels, we ran into a South America all offered free breakfast so that shouldn’t be a comparison point.
Something Else?
My whole reason to investigate. This trip was for the fishing. The itineraries provided really didn’t provide any information on a fishing guide and I had to do that last minute on my own before I left I was mainly interested in what type of equipment I should bring or not bring the guy was great. The spots were good because they were close to the town where we stayed. I guess it’s really not your specialty to ride the fishing expertise but you did a good job With using river trout and Marco
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
I was worried about the currency. It was a little bit of an issue. I try not to come back with any remaining pesos. I think a tipping guide would’ve been nice. The information we got from Orr manager for the trip was a little excessive I thought for the tips for the hotels Which recommended $20 a night per person I thought the guides worked more for the money and also the drivers of the shuttles and hotels Laz Tories I didn’t understand why they needed to send to bellhops when we only had three bags plus the person from the desk and I had a tip them all I would suggest going on a wine tour either in Argentina or Chile. They both have a good wineries, and that was another highlight that we initiated and worked on ourselves, and it turned out to be very good. We did a water tour which showed how all the irrigation works in Mendoza, and all the valleys for the
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It was a long plane trip, but I would consider going back just for the fission. I might inquire a little more about the menus at the hotels cause it’s a large it’s a large amount of food and eating late at night.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I took the travel itinerary and made a booklet of it. I also did a spreadsheet for who needed to be tipped in what type of currency I would warn people not to try to take money out of the ATMs, because they charge exorbitant rates just to do the processing you can only take out $60 US, I would warn people about the border crossings and saving those tickets they provided customs that they just slide into your passport and can be easily lost the most important piece of clothing in Patagonia is your rain jacket and rain pants the rain didn’t bother me but it’s a continual issue it rains five or six times a day I think I overpacked with warm weather clothing for buenas Aries I think Swoope should advocate using the Suby subway in Buenos Aires and facilitate that in someway
How prepared and excited for Patagonia did you feel?
I felt prepared, except for the fishing guide info and contact and the tipping and currencies involved
