What was your most memorable moment?
Either the first sight of the Petitio Moreno Glacier, or the first proper sight of the 3 towers at the base of the towers walk in Torres del Paine. Or, actually, watching 3 condors flying below us in El Chalten!

Something Else?
We spent 2 nights at Eolu in El Calafate. I felt underdressed at dinner. It would have been useful to know to bring some additional clothing. Also, re running. I had asked for suggestions for where I could run. When we arrived at Explora they were very clear that there was to be no running because of the risk of being chased by adolescent pumas! I ran twice at Eolu but the suggestion had been for me to run at the waterfront whilst staying there. The waterfront would have been an $80 round trip in a cab!! I ran the dirt road by the hotel instead. On the whole I think the advice to would-be runners should be to focus on the harder, longer hikes. Tierra Patagonia had a very nice little gym.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Patagonia?
As previously stated…. I would take a few sets of nicer outfits for dinners. I would not recommend trying to run at El Chalten or Torres del Paine. I felt the harder, longer hikes gave me all the challenge I needed. The wait staff are all very eager to be helpful but often didn’t quite understand what I was looking for. For example if I asked for additional veggie options they would most likely suggest serving a dish without the meat/fish. If I had asked very specifically for a salad with quinoa or hummus I now believe they would have been delighted to serve it. Unfortunately I sometimes didn’t ask the correct question.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Not really. I think anytime you visit a place or culture that is dramatically different to your own it is an experience that broadens your horizons. My perspective remains that trekking out into nature is always worthwhile, and that connecting with people along the way always reveals more similarities than differences.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
