At age 78 doing a 19 k hike to see the French Valley glacier . . including a boat ride from the Explora resort. I wasn't sure I could keep up with the younger crowd but I did . .. the guide from Explora was just superb. The views were extraordinary. I guess I won't soon forget walking into the dining room at Explora shortly after arriving and sitting down and being just dumbstruck by the incredible view of the mountains across the lake. It was so amazing my instinct was to think it was fake!

Life changing

My wife isn't a good hiker at all, . .. I got her to do a few short excursions but she loves horses, so she did a morning outing while I was doing a long hike, and then we both did the excursion where you have a big bbq and then go riding . . .the quality of the horses and the gauchos was extremely high. I'm so glad horses were an option such that she too had a great stay there.

I was so surprised the resort was essentially at sea level . . .with all that snow in the pictures I assumed we would be staying at several thousand meters altitude. I did for sure come away understanding why Torres de Paine is on so many peoples' bucket lists. It is indeed unique and so special.

I felt very prepared thanks to your coaching and had all the right equipment. You might emphasize more the importance of keeping that silly piece of paper (PDI?) the immigration folks give to you .. . the officials don''t really emphasize at all that if you lose it it will cost you hassles and time. (luckily , we managed to have retained ours).
